Description
This photo shows a pup who learned ritual to respect female alpha.GH are the most complicated dogs, very aggressive and closest to wild canines (yet, still quite different, they have extremely strict sense of communication and hierarchy- a wrong signal can instantly lead to deadly fights- I'd say they have their own unique behavior which you can't compare to any canine) with the canine behavior out of all dogs. It's said their a huge chain of behavior is known as the most difficult dog to handle with, however it's very fascinating to learn and observe.
In this year I had a chance to have Arnaq to meet many various dog breeds besides her breed and it was very interesting to observe- but I'll say, that was a big horror sometimes to not let her to kill dogs. It took many and many months for Arnaq to understand other dogs, accept them and be friends because all dogs were crawling in fear behind her.
This photo represent when she finally got around with other dogs as respectful alpha, there was our friend's puppy, an american bulldog who is extremely rude to dogs (nothing wrong is with pup just she is very highly active and is not taught by dogs to respect) but Arnaq is the first dog who taught her how to behave with others, giving very clear and rich language for puppy how to communicate and where red line lies very fast. It was very fascinating view. Arnaq has very typical behaviour as wild canines which I had chance to observe in person... so American Pitbul learned that ritual very fastly!
Just what is stressful, we had very strictly keep an eye on Arnaq to not let her onto painful fights.
When greenland dogs are fighting, in very few seconds they can deliver deadly wounds without mercy.
2011, September, North Florida.

I can totally understand how stressful that is. We have Jack Russell Terriers, and the instincts in those dogs are very strong. Miscommunications led to nasty fights between our established dog and our foster dog, and they would have been deadly had we not been able to interfere [their small size made it possible to break up the fights but not without wounds to ourselves that were fairly bad for the size of the dogs]. It is a very traumatic and hard thing trying to find balance for a dog who does not understand others. Kudos to you for having the patience to help her learn how to exist more peacably with other dogs. Some people wouldn't have the patience or love.

Woah, die Story behind this photo is stunning. I didn't knew that GHs are so different from other dogs
Are they really that agressive to attack/kill any dog when it makes a "mistake"?

It's to show who's the leader, if the owner is not strong enough he or she wont be able to control them when they get into fight so that's why Greenland dog owner needs to be the top dog always.
These dogs love people but you never know what will happen if they feel they need to protect their owners or other dogs.
I have always been among Greenland dogs since I'm born in Greenland and I love them, but my father never took his eyes off me when I play with them when I was a kid. The dogs know that my dad was the leader but I'm just his kid so they might act different around me.
Now I have 4 Greenland dogs, got them from someone who didn't want them, mother with 3 pups. She was very distant and always looks ready to attack since she wasn't used to people but they're all loving dogs now.

This is certainly a very interesting dog breed! It's really cool for me to see that in a domesticated dog breed.

That was such an awesome day! It's amazing for me to see the difference between your photos from that day and mine I love the photos where Arnaq is teaching Brody to respect and when they were at the lake and Arnaq was teaching her to swim. But that was a nasty fight though...I can honestly say I underestimated the power of the GH until I saw the more agressive side.

Seeing your pictures (and others) of their dogs make me sad that I can't have my dogs where I live right now. *Sighs*
Maybe I'll get lucky enough to get a house in a few years....if they live that long. They're pretty old >.>
