Okay so like, it's always been a point of self consciousness for me that I don't really have anything in my roster that's fully original. Most of my life, I've just done fanart stuff because I've never been able to think of and build upon an idea that I myself created. And like it's always made me feel bad that while everyone else I know has their own little OC universes filled with unique stories and characters created fully by themselves, I'm just here as "that chick who draws a lot of AC art." It kinda goes along that same self conscious line as my inability to do digital art.

But! I started clawing my way out of that trap! And it's made me really really excited because for the first time, I've come up with one of those personal universes. Two actually, but I'll get to that later. This is my main one, the first idea I've had for a unique story with unique characters who are mine and mine alone, and that's a huge boost to my self esteem that my therapist says I really need And like I feel like I'm finally comfortable with getting some art for it out into the public. So here's the start of what I hope will be a project that I can work on for a while: a little universe that I've titled "Folk Hero".

Folk Hero follows the tale of Grace MacKenneth, the girl here in the drawing. She was born between two peoples, and grew up in a town that didn't respect her as her. She has to care for her crippled uncle and keep the family afloat, even though her uncle and her best friend Miriam say that she needs to slow herself down and quit letting herself get needlessly beat up. But she's stubborn like her mother, and the message never fully gets through her head despite how many tears she sheds over it. That is until one day, as her people are on the brink of war, she finds herself caught up in the toils of the Spirits of Turtle Island. Her entire heritage and way of life is at risk of being obliterated by an evil being whose sole purpose is to wipe them out no matter the cost. So now Grace has to navigate the realm of myth and magic, and the turmoil of real human war, as she slowly begins to uncover who she's meant to be, both to herself, her family, and the world.

She's my first truely original character and I'm really proud of it And the world I'm building around her. I wanna keep this project going with more art and tales and maybe even a comic series. Idk, I just know that I'm excited about this, and I really hope you guys like what I have to offer. I'm probably making a bigger deal out of this than I should, but hey, my therapist says that's okay XD
