Study Hall is just a class where you just sit and do your homework or chill or whatever for 40 minutes until the bell rings. Β It's usually either just a class to fill up an extra space on your schedule or a class that can be used to help people catch up on work.

at the school i am at we have "homework club" where you can stay afterschool for an hour to get 1 on 1 help with homework
and we also have "home room" it is just a 10 minute period to do the roll and the teacher will say any notices. last year it was the first period but this year its the period after recess
study hall seems good and fun but i reckon it take too much time on the schedule we have

Yeah, I suppose it's kinda like that. Β Except study hall is during school and is more of a requirement. Β Afterschool help here is more of a personal thing that students and teachers arrange themselves.
We have homeroom too once a week, though ours is half an hour and we rarely have anything to do in it XD
Also, you still have recess? Β Lucky XD We haven't had that in like a decade.

i wouldnt mind no recess as long as i have lunch, i get kinda bored during recess and lunch cause i wanna get to classes straight away, but i bet if our school cancelled recess for ever there will be a huge outcry

Well here recess is just an elementary school thing, a time for little kids to go play. Β After we hit middle school the only free period we ever really get is lunch

*googles elementary/middle school* we call elementary school primary school (pre-primary - yr 6) then its just highschool/secondary school (yr7 - yr12) but my highschool has 2 campuses and its called "____ _____ college" (i dont want to give the name of my school idk why) the lower campus is like middle school (yr7 - yr9) and then the upper campus (yr10-yr12) idk why its called a college, the only reason may be because its split into 2 campuses (this is the only highschool/college/campus thing out of 4 highschool in my city) recess is still a thing in high school, no idea you guys didnt have them

College here is what we call a university campus, where education after high school takes place. Β And the American definition of recess is a short time during the day when little kids get a break from school to go play on the swings and slides outside after lunch. Β After elementary school most kids are too old for that stuff so recess just has no purpose and so it stops being a thing.
