Bio: Jan Carel Willem Ricus Theodore Baud was born into the Indonesian Rite of the Templar Order.  The eldest son of Dutch politician Guillaume Louis Baud and his wife Wilhelmina Jacobina Theodora Couperus, Baud was groomed for controlling the people of the Dutch East Indies.  His parents had him educated in artillery at the Royal Dutch Military Academy, and by September 1891 he had been promoted to first lieutenant. However, despite showing excellent promise, he found he didn't like military service too much, preferring his studies over the battlefield.  He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1862 at his own request, and soon after became an assistant to the colonial government's geography surveys.

Throughout the next few years, Baud travelled throughout the Dutch East Indies, mapping the geography of the terrain for the benefit of the Templar cause.  From 1863 to 1865, Baud travelled to regions including Mount Ungaran and Morodemak. His work came to a pause in 1865, however, as health issues and family matters.  Living off of the government and Templar support that his status granted him, Baud quickly recovered and married a young woman named Johanna Petronella Wilhelmina Steenstra Toussaint, with whom he’d go on to have 6 children.

Baud returned to his work in December 1866, taking many governmental and administrative jobs over the next few years.  He was even appointed the Assistant Resident of Meester Cornelis in 1873, though he resigned from the position the following year.  In 1877, he resigned from his role as special member of the Bengkalis Residency Council in eastern Sumatra, and afterwards he mostly dropped out of public life.  He devoted his later years to serving the Templars, who gained dominance over the Dutch East Indies in 1878 after they killed the Assassin Mentor Ibrahim Lamnga during the Aceh War and left their enemies scattering into the shadows.

By 1882, Baud’s skills in geography led him to being recruited by Grand Master Huibert Gerard Boumeester to help locate a Precursor Temple hidden somewhere on the islands.  Baud ultimately died during this search, passing away in Buitenzorg in January 1883.
