Description
A reference sheet for an Assassin's Creed OC that I based off of my great-great grandfather, who was a member of the Austro-Hungarian infantry before he moved to America.
------------
Name: Jozsef Balogh
Born: Szemenye, Vas, Hungary; December 5, 1884
Died: South Bend, Indiana; February 28, 1952
Occupation: Austro-Hungarian infantrist (formerly)
Allegiance: Templars (formerly), Assassins
Bio: Jozsef Balogh was born into the Templar order in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. All his early life, he was trained in the methods and philosophies of his order. He devoted all of his time to helping his family and brothers-in-arms to gain power and influence in every possible area of life in the Empire, striving to gain peace through control. In 1905, Jozsef was enlisted in the Austro-Hungarian military. He served as an infantrist and, on a few rare occasions, as a guard for the rulers of the land. While on duty, he did everything he could to serve his true allegiance.
However, that would begin to change in 1907. He had returned to the Templars from a mission, and overheard a conversation his brothers were having. He reported his mission to them when he had the chance, thankful they didn't notice him eavesdropping, and snuck into the Grand Master's chambers when he was alone. He dug through the Templar leader's drawers, and found a set of papers. He was shocked by what he found. His brothers were planning to start a World War within the next decade, which would send Europe up in flames, and cause the people to turn to the Templars for order (at least in theory).
Jozsef’s world was shaken. He'd always believed his order would help people, not oppress them. Enraged, he stormed up to the Grand Master and let out his disapproval. This, however, would cause his order to view him as a traitor. They kicked him out of the Templar order, and threatened to execute him. Jozsef ran from his former allies, but they always found him. One day, they managed to trap him. He would've died in the streets if he hadn't miraculously been rescued by a man in a white hood. He thanked the stranger, who introduced himself as an Assassin, the mortal enemy of the Templars.
Jozsef didn't care able that anymore, however. He was just thankful to be saved. The Assassin explained how they'd been watching him ever since the Templars expelled him, and offered to take him in. Jozsef, after several more misadventures with the Assassins over the next few weeks, eventually accepted the offer. Within a few months, he learned all he could about the Assassin way, rejecting everything the Templars had taught him. He worked with his new brothers to ensure freedom and equality throughout the land.
In 1909, he and the Assassins arranged for him to travel to America, where he would live and work for the rest of his life. He arrived in his new country and married a young woman named Vilma in 1911. They had three daughters and a son, who would later fight in World War II. Jozsef was never able to prevent either of the World Wars that eventually took place, but he still tried his hardest to help make sure the people stayed free from tyranny. He remained loyal to the Assassins until his death in 1952.
