Description
Making new ref sheets for my characters because quite frankly a lot of them really need it XD
Name: Kahente (born Meeaquous)
Born: April 17, 1571; Croatoan, Hatteras Island
Died: May 26, 1637; Mystick Fort, Connecticut Colony (age 67)
Allegiance: Assassins
Bio: Meeaquous was born into a small Croatoan village to Assassin parents who loved her dearly and raised her in the ways of the Creed. She was often brought along with her parents for missions, though she herself mostly just observed and stayed safe. In 1579, she and her parents were sent by the Mentor, Chief Wahunsenacawh, to Iroquois territory up north to help fight against the St. Lawrence Natives. Meeaquous made good friends with several Kanien’kehá:ka children, and they gave her the nickname “Kahente” meaning “before her time” in their language. Kahente carried the name all through her life.
Kahente's father was tragically killed by Templars later on in that mission. The poor girl killed the villain responsible in her rage, and the family grieved their loss. Kahente was given her father's hidden blade, and she was formally initiated into the Brotherhood. Her first independent mission came in 1588, when Wahunsenacawh sent her to the English colony on Roanoke Island to retrieve a Piece of Eden before the Templars controlling it did. She befriended many of the townspeople, including the famous Dare family, and became the colony’s beloved guardian against the insane Templars. This came to a tragic end in 1589, however, as the Templars found the Piece of Eden, a Shroud, and ended up accidentally killing all English people on the island after mishandling the device. Kahente was heartbroken at the loss of her friends, and her grief sent her spiraling into a pit of depression and alcohol. She quit the Assassins and spent the next 6 years wandering aimlessly.
Things turned around in 1595, however. Nine months after a night with someone she was too drunk to remember, she gave birth to two beautiful twins: a son whom she named Artamockes and a daughter whom she named Virginia. The birth of her children snapped her out of her funk and made her realize that she had to move past her grief and honor the memories of the loved ones she had lost. She returned with her children to Wahunsenacawh, who embraced her back into the Assassins with open arms. Kahente fit right back into her old life, and she even began to take on a motherly role to Wahunsenacawh’s daughter Pocahontas, whom she loved dearly.
The English established another colony by the name of Jamestown in 1607, under the leadership of the Templar, John Smith. Relations with the Natives were rocky at first, and it eventually led to the Assassins capturing Smith and scheduling him for execution. His death at Wahunsenacawh’s hands was abruptly halted by Pocahontas however, much to Kahente's dismay. The girl pleaded for his life, and Kahente reluctantly gave in. Smith was released, and for a while he worked as a negotiator between the Natives and the colonists. But this was ruined when he was injured by a gunpowder accident in 1609 and sent back to England. The other Templars immediately seized power and began hostilities once again, and went so far as to steal massive amounts of food from the Natives during a brutal period known as the Starving Time. Pocahontas was captured by the Templars in 1613, and they immediately began to brainwash her against her people and the Assassins. By the time Kahente was able to mount a rescue the next year, Pocahontas had already grown to hate her and became an official member of the Order. Kahente was heartbroken, and begged and pleaded with her to come back. But Pocahontas wouldn't have it. She changed her name to Rebecca, married colonist John Rolfe, and travelled to England with him in 1616. Kahente knew that she had to kill this traitor, but questioned whether she had the strength to do so. Nonetheless, she followed the Rolfes across the ocean and after failing miserably to bring Pocahontas back to her side, she killed her in 1617. She spent the entire trip back to America mourning the loss of the person she once saw as a daughter.
Upon her arrival, she learned that Wahunsenacawh had passed, and she took up his position as Mentor. A new threat entered her life when a group of Templar-led colonists arrived on the Mayflower in Plymouth in 1620. They came massively unprepared for the harsh winters, but were saved with the help of an ex-Assassin named Squanto. He joined the Templars and helped them survive the winter, and as thanks these Pilgrims held a grand feast with their Native allies in November 1621. These Templars continued to work against Assassin plans with Squanto’s help, so Kahente killed him for his treachery with a blowpipe in 1622.
Relations between the Natives and the English just continued to get worse and worse and worse as the years went on, with the Templars influencing the fanatical English side and the Assassins protecting the Natives from being persecuted and slaughtered. Kahente's last major conflict started in June 1636: the Pequot War. She did everything she could with her family's help to rescue as many innocent lives as possible. This ultimately led to her demise though. In 1637, she attempted to rescue the peaceful village near the Mystic River in the Connecticut Colony from the violent hands of the English who sought to burn the place to the ground and murder every person within the walls. She helped many escape, but she herself was tragically killed by the Templar, John Alden, in the midst of the fight. Her children were devastated, but they continued her legacy to the end of the Pequot War, and long afterwards. Kahente's name became honored for generations to come in the history of colonial American Assassins
She is an ancestor of Ava Arlie.

I've actually been making plans to write a story down the line set in the Arctic when the Inuit and the Vikings came into conflict during the late 1300s and early 1400s With a little Henry Sinclair and James Gunn thrown into the mix. So ye there will be more Inuit stuff down the line ^u^

Technically yes? XD Arktalaki was a prehistoric Assassin who crossed the Bering Land Bridge 15000 years ago and I incorporated a lot of Inuit-inspired designs into her robes since her people would go on to become the Inuit eventually. But like as for more modern Inuit stuff, it's possible. Evelyn was up in Alaska around the time of the gold rush, and my Viking OC made a few rounds to Greenland and Vinland where she would've made contact with the Inuit. So I feel there's a good chance I may dabble in the culture.
