Info: The phoenix lives in dry areas where forest fires are common. Once a fire starts, the birds will flee with the other animals. However, they still stay close to the burning woods. Once the flames die down to a certain point, the phoenix flies back into the charred forest. Then, they dig through the ashes to find the burned remains of plants and animals, which they later take back to their nests and eat. Their digging kicks up a huge cloud of ash, blocking the birds from an outsider's viewpoint. This is probably what led ancient humans to believing that the birds die in the flames and then rise from the ashes.
