Bone Hunter works in what is known as the Valley of the Dead, nicknamed 'the Lost World'. It's a large area of land located a couple miles outside of Canterlot. Despite its dreadful name, the valley is actually a very decent place, as well as a popular tourist attraction. Several scientists come here for the abundance of fossils located in the valley. Dozens of samples are found everyday.

The valley has several different areas, including the tar pits and the mountain cliffsides, but one of the most popular areas is the Amber Mines. The Amber Mines are a vast network of caves that are filled to the brim with amber samples. These enormous piles of ancient tree sap light up the caverns in a beautiful golden hue. This makes it the most popular attraction, but something else also makes tourists hesitant.

There's an old pony's tale about how the whole valley is cursed, and how the epicenter of it all is located deep in the unexplored regions of the caves. The legend says that a long time ago, the valley was once a flourishing forest inhabited by dozens of species, even ponies. One day, an evil wizard of sorts came to the forest and turned it to a rocky waistland, killing very living thing in the process. Legend says that the souls of the dead still haunt the valley to this day. Though most ponies just dismiss it as an old story, there are still reports of strange noises echoing from somewhere in the valley. Strange goings-on occasionally occur, like objects mysteriously moving or the environment slightly shifting. Old pony's tale or not, it's impossible to ignore the mystery behind the valley.
