Personally, I think Capaldi is a great actor, but I can't stand how they write his Doctor. He's too much of a jerk in my opinion.

I feel the exact same way! I feel like they're trying too hard to make the show "darker", both literally and metaphorically.
(Seriously. I swear, every color in series 8 was just a different shade of grey)
If you ask me, it's not meant to be "darker". To me, the show was just a fun adventure that you could enjoy while you just sit back and relax. And I don't get that feeling with the newer episodes.

In my opinion however, you should make the tones darker, because from what I see it is night time so it would be more realistic ;w;

I tend to do more shading with my more realistic stuff than with my pony stuff. The show has a much more simple style to it.
