Description Everyone always talks about colonizing Mars, but has anybody heard all the theories scientists have put out about colonizing Venus instead?  I mean, yeah, on the surface it's a hellish landscape where it's so hot that it literally rains lead, but that's why we'd put our colonies way above the surface where the atmosphere is a lot more tame and liveable.  And since Venus’s atmosphere is heavier than Earth's, we could just fill the support systems with some of Earth's air and it would float like a balloon.  Wouldn't floating Venusian sky cities be awesome?  I dunno lol.  I think it would be a cool sight to see.

It doesn't rain lead on Venus. But it is hot enough to melt there.

Well, it's kinda both lol.  There's lead compounds in Venus snow

Very true. On a different note, how is the person there breathing?

I dunno XD futuristic-y gas mask i guess.  I just kinda based all of this based on NASA's ideas for colonizing Venus lol

Oh, good! Wouldn't want him to asphyxiate.

I've always found the idea of floating cities above Venus to be absolutely brilliant. Though, we'll no doubt colonize Mars first.

Most likely.  Either way, we're probably gonna have to wait a while XD

Isn't whole Venus like - the worst planet in the Solar system to colonize? You mentioned hellish surface, but I remember reading that Venusian atmosphere is so dense, it creates pressure so high, everything gets crushed. Hell, I thing some probes send were crushed in the atmosphere, before reaching ground.

I might be wrong.

I remember hearing some scientists talk about how there's a certain height in Venus's atmosphere that's much more tolerable.  I know they're already making plans for unmanned balloon probes there to test their theories.

SciShow Space did a pretty good video on the topic once.  It went more in depth about all the pros and cons of the idea.

XD I didn't even intend for this to be an AC drawing lol.  Though, admittedly, that would be an awesome game.
Thanks ^^

You ought to check out the Amtor series by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

A guy crashes on Venus and finds out it's inhabited.

Oh.  Is it relatively scientifically sound?  Like, is Venus depicted in an accurately hellish way or is the sci-fi aspect of it more fiction than science?

Venus is depicted as a water world with tropical islands. It has pirates, sea monsters, and hot women in very little clothing.

Oh... well that's definitely very different from the Venus I know.  I might look into the series some time, though it doesn't really seem like my kind of thing.

Edgar Rice Burroughs is most famous for writing Tarzan. Carson on Venus series and Carter on Mars series are some of the firs works in the Sword and Planets sub-genre of Science Fiction. These books inspired tons of scifi writers as well as the Star Wars franchise.

That's certainly interesting.  I'll do some further research sometime and see if there's anything in it I'd be interested in, though I'm very picky when it comes to science fiction stories lol
