Description

I've been drawing - a lot of kaiju lately.

Just one of several redraws/redesigns that I've been working on. Once I've finished I might go into more explanation on them all.

Okay. A little bit of an explanation.

Zottos is from an older Godzilla manga (Rampage Godzilla, I think?) where there were several original kaiju created for the comic that never showed up in anything else afterward (as far as I know). Zottos is one of them, and honestly he's kind of a fun design. He's pretty simple in shape, but there's a weird energy and mania to him that made him fun to draw. I played up the gremlin-ish personality he seems to have in some panels of the manga, but mostly he's how he looks and acts in the source material, as I didn't feel like I needed to change much about his overall design. A few more details and textures here and there, but mostly, yeah, he's just a weird monster shaped like a peanut. His tongue seemed to be a main feature in the comic, if only for humor, so I made sure to include it. I don't get the stalk eyes, but, yeah, it's a losing battle rationalizing monster design sometimes.

I'll ink him...eventually. Got other stuff to do first.
