Looks quite good, but I think a less harsh outline would really bring this piece out. Perhaps instead of using such strong black, try something a tad lighter.
Like the details for the feathers for example could benefit from a lighter grey, for example.
Maybe you can use a bit of ditthering to give this more depth as well. Good structure, just that colour-wise it can be refined

I was trying to go for my own style because I know a lot of pixel art is soft. n.n; I wanted the details to pop since most pixel art comes out small. But thanks regardless!

It's not too soft, since a lot of it involves game graphics that have a limited pallete
And believe it or not, Phoenix Wright's stuff are considered pixel art despite looking very close to the drawn material. google up Court Records and zoom in to take a closer look.

This is my friend's work, using only a very limited pallete. I think this one is 16 bit. Feel free to zoom in and see how he does it.
It's more of a colour choice in the end.
