You did a good job working with Microns. I enjoy the textures you created. I know how you feel always worrying that I am going to mess something up on a piece. Kingfishers are awesome birds.

Wow, was this the picture you were talking about yesterday? It's freaking amazing, and it looks so realistic, too.

ps: extra love for doing a kingfisher. They are a cool bird. Our mascot in highschool was a kingfisher, which lead to much mockery from schools with, you know, cougars and falcons and wolves and whatnot

Haha, really? Hey, I think that would be cool, 'cause it would be different. Ours is a panther...and so is everybody else's. T_T

I loooove the detail, and the fine penwork. It's accurate and precise, but hasn't lost that 'artist's touch' to it. It still has movement to it... some people draw stuff like this and it's way to cold and stiff. Nice work!

Like I have said before, your artwork is beyond amazing. Good job. Any reason why you are doing birds, or why your teacher choose them?

^^ Thanks so much! There's no reason, really- the teacher wanted to see alot of texture and expressive linework, and I chose birds because I wanted to do something different- I'd honestly never even attempted to draw a bird before this project. XD

This one is very impressive from a distance. It still looks nice in full view, although the darks are less dramatic (perhaps a scanning issue more than an artistic one) and the fluffy look is marred just slightly by the way the light-colored curves at the ends of the feathers meet the dark-colored part roughly. For example, the light bands on the tail-feathers are handled in a way that makes it look like a color difference on the feather, but the lower chest feathers look very clean-cut. (... That's a nitpick, though. Total nitpick. No one would notice unless they stared at it for awhile or entered with the intention of analyzing it.)
It all looks very nice from the small-view, though. How large is it in real life?

^^ Thanks. Heh, I know what you mean on the feathers, but that was actually intentional. Believe it or not, that's what their feathers in that part of the wing look like, with the clean white lines around them.
It's 8 1/2" by 11", with a couple inches of length cut off.

They will peck out your eyes with their adorably oversized beaks.
