Description Recently, I started hearing peeps from one of the bushes by our front porch. Upon further investigation, I spotted a nest with several baby mocking birds. I could barely see their little beaks, but I think there were 3 of them. Sure enough, within minutes one of the parent birds came by and went into the bush to feed the fledglings. After several days of watching their activities, yesterday, I spotted this little one just in time for it's first flight out of the bush to see the world. The parent bird was up on the roof calling it and it flew off. Now they have all gone, So I am very glad the timing was perfect for this one photo of Buddy.

I want to dedicate this little bird to my Daughter Tea who is the Queen Mother of all non-human children. Tea, I know you will love little Buddy as it will remind you so much of Sunny-Peeps. I would like to think this one is a descendant.

A couple years ago, Tea
helped in choosing a name for another bird in our yard. That one we rescued after it had fallen from it's nest in our huge back yard tree. Tea also gave me some tips on editing the photo. The bird was given the name Sunny-Peeps.

If you would like to read about Sunny-Peeps rescue story, please click on the photo below.

I would like to encourage everyone to support Tea and   .

Reading this journal will help you discover the many ways you can.
THE SHELTER PROJECT Report Presentation
WELCOME TO "THE SHELTER PROJECT" REPORT PRESENTATION

First of all,

to everyone who has even made this possible!

It is a Team Effort, greater than we can imagine!

:icondoggyplz:
What IS "The Shelter Project"?
"The Shelter Project" is an ongoing charitable project, that seeks teamwork in order to raise funds for animals in need- usually those who need rescuing, medical help, to be spayed or neutered, etc.,- animals that need food, shelter, ongoing medical treatment, and for animals who are waiting for adoption to a new home. The project does this, primarily through purchases of a wide variety of artistic works available, by Tea of Tea Photography.
"The Shelter Project" is NOT one person's project. It is the TEAM'S project. Never once, could any one person do any of this

Yes it is especially here where there have been 6 years now of severe drought so it is important to provide seeds and water for them to help them along.

I agree he was such a cutee and so young barely had enough feathers to fly, but he did fly off after his mom called him from the roof top. I think he did survive on his own once he flew off because I saw him in the back yard tree and the mom bird was nearby. Of course, there are so many mocking birds around that once he grew up, I can no longer tell him apart from the others. I am so happy you like this photo, it was a lucky shot as I really had no time to really think about setting up. I had to take it and right after he was gone.

I'm glad to hear that he most likely had a bright future, considering his Mom was keeping a careful eye on him... where would we be without our Moms?

Well you are right about that. I do miss my mom who passed away in 2004. This reminds me to ask you how is your mom doing? I do hope she will be home very soon especially since the Holidays are here.

I'm terribly sorry to hear that, my dear friend - actually, I see you and Penny here as like my "online Moms" (you are both around her age).

She is doing very well, thanks so much - in fact, I'm picking her up from the rehab center tonight! She's coming home - and I know Alice and Trixie will be happy as well!

Awww!

This is beautiful! My first thought was Sunny Peeps has returned!!
So indeed, this did remind me... I love the photo, you did so very well, great angle, close, and makes him look so majestic- (fills me with the feeling of strength. )
And yes, actually wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't a descendent from Sunny Peeps-- who I will always treasure, and now *this*!
Thank you for touching my heart with this very special dedication, my dear dA Mom.

And how sweet of you to make a shout-out in support of "The Shelter Project".
You are always thinking of ways to show your support of the Project, and that means so much to me, but more importantly to the animals with needs as they wait for their day of adoption.

Thanks for everything.

My greatest joy to dedicate this to you my DA Daughter. You know I had to give this one to you there is no one else who would appreciate it more because of the history with Sunny -Peeps.   I always love to give coverage to the shelter project in any way I can because I am so very proud of all you are doing to help those poor animals find proper care, food and hopefully a permanent home. Sending you from your DA Mom.

Thank you so much My friend.I think she will love it too especially because of Sunny-Peeps.
I was shocked Buddy could fly. He is very tiny. I tried to take pics of the nest, but it was deep and high inside the bush so no way to get the camera inside. Having the front door open and sitting in my chair I could hear the parent bird calling and the calls caught my attention because I noticed the parent bird did not come down on the railing or go into the bush. It was trying to intice Buddy up there for the dangling insect it was holding in it's beak. When I openned the door to see what was going on, I spotted Buddy at the very edge of the bush and ran for my camera. At first, I startled him as he was looking up at the roof and without moving it's head looking at me and back up to the roof. One pic from the camera and it flew off. What a lucky shot it was. I could not get the others. I could hear them, but could not see them as they too were out of the nest. At some point, I could no longer hear them, but now, I think they are in the big tree in my back yard but cannot see any of them.
