Limited Material: In order to absorb and make use of materials, Kevin needs a sufficient supply in order to fully coat himself in armor and make use of it. If he has an insufficient amount of material, he can only partially cover parts of his body.

Power and Energy Corruption: While materialistic absorptions are safe, energy and power absorptions pose a great risk to Kevin. If too much energy or power is absorbed, Kevin's mental stability becomes a great issue. In extreme cases, Kevin can lose all sanity and revert back to his villanous ways. In order to combat this risk, Kevin rarely absorbs transformations from Ben's Omnitrix and, if he does, typically releases a previously absorbed transformation to act as a replacement. Another measure of safety that Kevin utilizes is only using one stored transformation at a time, and in small time frames. Using multiple transformations at once can lead to potential mutation and instability, causing Kevin to become a monsterous amalgamation once again. These risks typically result in Kevin absorbing and using materials when in combat situations, but when Ben is unavailable or predisposed, Kevin uses his alien powers.

Anger Issues: While much more level-headed than when in his youth, Kevin is still known to sometimes act out of impulsion or rage. This can lead to many misunderstandings and moments of aggression. And, in extreme cases, this can lead to Kevin accidentally using powers stored within him, which can lead him down a rabbit hole of mental instability. The only known individual who can get past Kevin's anger and get through to him in dire situations is Gwen Tennyson.
