"Just another day at the office for Business-Bot."--
A remake of my original Business-Bot piece: [link]
I created this over the span of three days for a Scholastic art competition my teacher told me about. I felt that none of my works so far in my class have been competition worthy, so I decided to recreate an older piece as a full fledged digital painting, as it would be more impressive.
I am planning on turning this piece into a much larger "universe" for my art class. My major inspiration for this decision came from a guest speaker in my art class (Marc Shank; check out his work here: [link] ). I plan to create a group of nearly identical robots in a sort of wasteland-ish environment. Each robot will have their own sense of personality and will attempt to display themselves in such a way that they enjoy; for example, this first robot (which I have been referring to as "Business-Bot") enjoys the concept of business and whatnot, so he carries a suitcase and wears a tie. I'm still brainstorming and thinking through ideas for this, but I definitely plan on continuing this idea.
I really dislike how the legs, pelvic plate, and hands came out. They were rushed since I was in a hurry to finish the piece as the deadline was drawing to a close (I submitted it
about half an hour before the deadline). I really like how the plating on the upper arms came out, as well as the head and neck.
UPDATE 2.28.13: Reworked the pelvic plating, the lighting/background, changed the barcode to an ISBN code, slightly modified the shading on the chest piece, added a shadow for the tie on the right arm; reworked for exhibition and judging in a local school based art competition
If anything else, I would add a background silhouette (like the original piece), but I'm going to consider this finished.

Thank you! I highly recommend you check out the artwork of Marc Shank, as a large part of my inspiration for the series came from his Scurvyville series.
