The following tale is one about the dangers of gluttony. Never let it tempt you, always consume in proportions. Take heed or you'll meet the same fate as the demon in this story!

Of the coast of the city of Rupton, high up a hill, hidden among a thick forest, was a large power plant, fuelling the entire city with the much-needed electricity to keep them blissfully happy and ignorant.

Many would question the odd placement for the power plant. If a fuse blew, wouldn’t it be a hassle just to get to the plant? What if adjustments needed to be done? Or maintenance? Or if a rowdy group of hackers tried to hijack it and a rogue police officer needed to drive his way there with his hacker sidekick? Wouldn’t the location hinder any help from arriving?

And they’d be right, the location would be an annoyance to drive to. But there’s a reason the government chose that location to be where the power plant was to be built. Energy Demons!

Don’t look at me like that, I’m serious.

Energy demons have been a great annoyance for the citizens of Rupton for many decades. They would constantly invade their power plants and consume the electricity in them, causing widespread blackouts and spike the electric bill for a lot of citizens. They even go so far as invade the city itself and suck the energy out of the power generators at homes as well. And to make matters worse, some even blow up the power plants as if to make some odd statement to the city. Energy Demons have been a pain in the neck, honestly.

‘But wait,’ you must be asking, ‘how do they know it’s not just rolling black outs or poor maintenance on the government’s part? What makes them think hellish creatures from below are the cause for this?’

Well, there’s been many sightings of these devilish demons. Many have described these demons as dark creatures that roam the night, their eyes, mouth and horns glowing brightly in the dark. Many have claimed that their midsection glows brighter the more energy they consume. It’s truly a terrifying sight to behold. Many have tried to stop these demons but none have survived.

In an attempt to keep their power plants safe and hopefully starve out these demons, the governor had decided to keep the plant hidden away so the demons will never find it again.

Unfortunately, it was futile, it always is.

At the entrance of the power plant, a guard stood watch. He was laying on his chair, resting his eyes, enjoying the cool night breeze that flowed through the trees. This was, by far, the best job he could’ve asked for, guarding a station secluded deep in the forest, it’s location not even disclosed to the public, it’s perfect. Who’s even going to come? People who knew of the location, and those who knows of the location are harmless at best, jerks at worst. So, what is he even guarding against? Demons? Please, they’re just the hallucinations of people who shouldn’t even be out and about to begin with. He slept comfortably in his post while he waits for the sun to rise and the next shift guard to arrive.

Unfortunately for our cocky, sleeping guard, he was unaware of the two distance glows that were closing in from deep within the forest. He snoozed comfortably in ignorant bliss as his surroundings began getting bathed in strange green and yellow light. Once the glow has gotten to be unbearable to ignore, the guard shielded his eyes.

“Hey,” he mumbled, “Shine that flashlight else, bub!” He scolded, trying to see who was the hooligan bothering him. His eyes widened in fear as he realized two demons stood towering over him, leaning down towards him. Their eyes were blinding to the sight; he couldn’t even tell if they had pupils or not. As the green demon leaned closer to his face, the guard tried to scramble for his gun but the demon’s hand shot to his neck. The demon lifted the guard several feet in the air, holding his neck tight in her hands. The guard gasped and kicked as he felt her grasp tighten more and more, her face seemed void of any human expression, just vacant bright eyes shining on his reddening face. He made one final attempt to reach for his gun before...

When she released her grip, the guard slumped to the ground, thudding lifelessly, gripping his gun in post-mortem.

“That’s the last of them,” declared the green demon, known as Radon among her peers. She turned to her partner and smiled, “The power plant should be ours to enjoy now, without any distractions.”

“But what if there are workers inside?” Asked the shorter, yellow demon, named Neon, “What if they try to stop us?”

“Well then it’ll be your turn to kill them, Squirt,” Radon answered, patting Neon on the head. Neon smiled, nodding in agreement. They both then entered through the large iron doors, loudly squeaking to announce their entrance.

Once inside, they both quickly noticed the area seemed oddly empty. Nobody can be found anywhere, offices empty, control center unmanned, janitors absent. All shrouded in darkness with only Radon and Neon lighting up the rooms they enter. Truly, this was very odd for a station that is supposed to be keeping the city lights going.

“Where is everyone?” Radon asked loudly, her voice echoing across the vacant hallways. They were unaware that a huge holiday festive was being held at the city plaza, everyone who anyone was there. “I mean, I know I didn’t want any distractions but I liked it when they saw me and ran. I was hoping you’d get to see that.” Radon complained.

“It’s fine, maybe next time,” Neon reassured, “Honestly, it’s pretty great that nobody is here to stop us on my first night out!” She smiled brightly.

“Well as long as you have fun!” Radon exclaimed happily, “Now then, let’s get to the generator, honestly the best room in the Power Plant.” She put her arm around Neon and they both made their merry way to the large generator room.

The contractors who built the Power Plant took some precautions to keep the energy demons away from the generator room, thus Radon had to create a bigger doorway by breaking the wall down. Clever, but once again futile in stopping the demons.

Once the demons got inside, the room was filled in yellow and green light and Radon quickly found the towering generator in the center of the room, cables spilling out and connected to the walls, a low hum echoing from it. “Hah! They didn’t even try to hide it. What fools!” Radon chortled, grabbing a cable and trying to pull it out of the wall.

“How do you even hide something this big?” Neon asked curiously, observing the enormous generator as it rattled quietly in place.

“You’d be amazed, the contractors in this city are really clever!” She explained, finally pulling the cable out, “But I guess they didn’t even bother this time. Thinking their super clever hiding spot was enough... and the doorway.” She looked at the hole in the wall before bursting in laughter, “What good that did for them, right?” Neon giggled in response.

Radon brought the cable to her mouth and began consuming the electricity the generator was producing. Her body began shinning brighter as the energy flowed through her, her horns glimmering, her eyes beaming and her stomach glowing brighter as it bulged bigger. She pointed to a nearby cable, inviting Neon to join in. She watched the yellow demon grab the cable and pull it off the socket, a tougher task for her than it was for Radon.

When the energy reached Neon, she was in heavenly bliss, the taste was unlike anything she has tasted before. This wasn’t like the energy the other demons made back at home. This was raw and wholesome and absolutely divine. Her eyes fluttered as she continued to absorb more of the precious sustenance. No wonder demons sneak off to do this!

They both leaned on the wall, allowing their guts to fill up as it grew to the size of a beach ball and still bigger. Radon rested her hands on her growing orb while Neon maintained the cable firmly in her hands, guzzling away. From the window at the other end of the room, they could see the city lights, as they began dimming as the electricity flow began redirecting elsewhere. But a sound began churning from the upper floor, one that caught Neon’s attention.

“What’s that noise?” She asked, pulling the cable out of her mouth, staring at the ceiling. Radon merely shrugged in response, continuing her feast. The sound continued, rhythmically.

Thud Thud Thud Thud

On the upper floors, a program was coming into effect. What this program does is make the generator work overtime if their power flow to the city was interrupted or decreased and would only come into effect if it drops a certain amount. This amount would be equal to how much an Energy Demon would consume, thus keeping the city going once the demon has left and avoiding a citywide blackout.

Thus, the machines on the upper floor came to life and began supplying the generator the fuel needed to start producing a larger amount of electricity for the city.

A loud buzzer rang and suddenly the cable in Neon sparked violently, spooking her. Dropping the cable, she looked at Radon, who was still resting with the cable still in her mouth. She tried to speak up to warn her, but almost immediately, Radon jolted up as the cable in her gave her a shock and began filling her up faster, her body shinning stronger and brighter as she continued to consume more and more energy.

“Radon! Are you okay? This... this doesn’t look good!” She looked around, panicking, watching as the city struggled to shine as bright as it usually does.

Radon simply smiled, signing with her hand to Neon to stay calm. Granted she felt herself filling up dangerously fast but all this energy was so good, she had to keep going. Her gut continued to balloon bigger, becoming twice as big before the surge and quickly surpassing it.

Neon paced nervously, waiting for Radon to remove the cable and say it’s time to go home. She didn’t like this, everything was loud, the generator is rattle violently, Radon’s glowing is starting to get unbearable. It almost looked as if beams of energy were coming out of her. She didn’t like any of this.

Radon felt herself quickly reaching her limit so she decided she had enough. But as soon as she grabbed the cable, something happened.

THUDTHUDTHUD

The beat got louder, the generator sparked violently, blowing a fuse and an enormous surge of electricity exploded out of it. The cables began blasting off the sockets in quick succession and the dread suddenly hit both of them as Radon quickly removed the cable from her mouth, but almost simultaneously, the end of the cable shot a violently flow of energy right into Radon’s open maw, pushing her gut to expand exponentially bigger. The blast had knocked her back against the wall.

Neon gasped in horror as she watched Radon slide down the wall, leaving a streak of green ooze down. “R-radon!” She approached Radon slowly, her gut was going insane, spikes of energy spazzing out of her engorged, glowing orb, it was nearly as high as Neon. As she got a bit closer, Radon jolted awake, gaging violently. She squirmed, her legs kicking as she held her throat, green ooze began spilling from her eyes and mouth.

“N-ne-onnnnn!” She groaned loudly, her face cracking from the immense power inside of her as she spazzed, her hand gripping the cable tightly. Her enormous belly convulsed violently, streaks of light and energy shooting out from within.

“Oh no! Radon!! Wh-what should I do?!” Neon asked frantically, watching Radon’s face come apart before her.

“R-r-ru-nnn!” She managed to warn Neon.

“What? No! I can’t leave you! Radon, please,” Neon pleaded, grabbing her hand.

“GET O-OUT OF H-HERE! I’M G-G-GOING T-T-!” The ooze cut her off as it began filling her mouth, violently oozing out. Neon backed up as she witnessed Radon’s body convulse and her gut grown even bigger.

This was it. Neon turned and ran out, tears running down her face as she ran for the exit.

Deep in the city, at the City Plaza, the citizens were partying when they heard a terrible noise. As if a megaton bomb went off in the forest, the citizens witnessed a large green explosion shoot up towards the sky, rattling the ground and sending shivers down the spine of onlookers.

Officials quickly reached the area of detonation, finding the area where the Power Station once stood to be completely eradicated. Nothing left but faint traces of green ooze on other wise burnt ground.
