If his powers returned, I'm officially never reading Bleach again. The story is ridiculously lame. He shouldn't dramatically lose his powers after beating Aizen if he's just going to get them back. Just like characters in Naruto shouldn't die if they're just going to be brought back to life.

I read a few chapters from the beginning of the current arc. Then I got bored. Bleach is just boring.

Read One Piece. It's sooo much better than Bleach and Naruto. And I used to be a big fan of Bleach and Naruto. Not anymore.

I hated it too. Because of the english version I saw on tv many years ago. Then I read the manga and realized how different that the english version was. It was censored to the point where it was completely different. The original version is the best shonen series ever.
Here's the video that convinced me to watch it.

so he should never have gotten his powers back? its an inevitability that he'll get his powers back, although i do think that this is only a trick and he hasn't really gotten them back yet

My opinion is that the series should've ended once he lost his powers. In fact, that would've actually been a satisfying ending. Ichigo beating Aizen and losing his powers. Tite Kubo has no idea how to write a solid story.

Mizashi In reply to M-Pyre [2011-04-15 06:41:38 +0000 UTC]

Sorry to butt in, but Kubo had that planned as the ORIGINAL ending to Bleach. However, there were too many unanswered questions remaining and the fans would've been dissatisfied if it had ended just like that. So actually, he does know how to write a solid story, but just chose to continue the series instead.

well, that's just yer opinion man, he didn't write Hueco mundo worth a damn in my opinion but these long running shows will stay on as long as people watch them

Yeah. Though One Piece is long, while actually having an amazingly well-written story. Eiichiro Oda actually knows how to write a solid story, unlike Kubo.

i don't like how people suck oda's dick. He's good for a shounen author, but nothing more evolutionary than Dragonball, his inspiration.

I usually only read Seinen, and they blow Shounen out of the water

Toriyama kinda sucked at writing stories. Oda doesn't. That's what makes One Piece different.

shounen series by nature suffer the same anemic elements of "gotta get stronger and beat that bad guy with the power of friendship so i can -insert generic goal here-" for One Piece which is reaching the grandline, and spending chapters reinforcing their overly melodramatic characters.

I've read the series, and it doesn't deviate from that money making thin as paper plot.

You obviously haven't seen enough of One Piece to see how different it is from every other shonen if you haven't even seen past the grand line. It isn't the standard "one character getting stronger so he can beat the next bad guy" thing you always see. Every main character gets a chance to shine. And there is actual character development, their growth is gradual but noticeable over time. They've changed quite a bit at this point. And they actually interact with eachother realistically, which is another thing that's uncommon in shonen series.

And the story is so unbelievably intricate and complex, you can tell that a lot of it had to be planned many years beforehand. There are some things that happened early in the story that are only now being explained, you find out why things happen the way they did in many situations. There aren't any plotholes, and that alone is a feat among itself considering that it's gone through 621 chapters while staying 100% consistent. Unlike Naruto and Bleach. The unpredictability of the story is one of main reasons that I love it so much, I'm always wanting to know what happens next. Yes, their goal is ultimately to get the "One Piece", though each story arc has the quality you would expect from a well-written novel.

I'm not saying One Piece is perfect. I'm saying that although it's shonen, it's different. In a good way.

Reaching the grand line? They got to the grand line 521 chapters ago. Do you know what happens after that?
