Description While going through some old stuff I was trying to organize and/or get rid of, I came accross this picture in a Wizard magazine from years ago of some people dressed as Wonder Woman and Spider-man and just really wanted to draw it. There is no particular reason I added The Thing, Swamp Thing, Howard and Captain Carrot to the drawing other than the fact that they are some favorites and I just decided to do so lol. Please check my other images for the picture that originally inspired the drawing.

HTF!!!?!Β  Did I miss this!?!Β

Also, did I just invent HTF or is it already in play with the kids these days?

Spider-Man and Wonder Woman I know from top to bottom and respect them both as characters.

However, and I don't exaggerate, the other four are in my top five all time favorite characters from their respective universes!!Β  Niiiice.

Β  It might be your own invention.

Β I think Howard, Ben Grimm and Swamp Thing (or, at least the Alec Holland pre Crisis version) are in my top ten favorite characters, too. Definitely the top ten comics characters. Probably more for the way those characters are written than anything else. I like Captain Carrot, too, but I've only read one or two comics with him in them. Spider-man and Wonder Woman are in there because that part of the drawing is based on a photo from an old Wizard magazine I decided to try to draw one day. I'm pretty sure that was before the internet, for me, anyway lol.Β

Yeah, I've got some Wizard covers, horrible, colored pencil, 12 year old drawings!

I think you might dig Carrot's series.Β  Very clever and DC's foolish not to dust them off and make an Incredible type flick with them.Β  This is the perfect time in between super hero movies.

Β That would in fact be a good way DC could use them. I'm not sure if the Captain Carrot characters are in the New 52 stuff or not. But, DC has had some success with animated movies that have stuff that isn't from the recent comics, like the Frank Miller style Dark Knight Returns cartoon.Β

Good point.Β

You know, the last comics I tried to buy current was the Final Crisis saga.Β  The Zoo Crew showed up at the end.Β  Unfortunately the reboot occurred and whatever plans there were, got scrapped.

Β I don't even know if Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew exist in the New 52. I don't think that two of my favorite characters, Plastic Man and the Ted Kord Blue Beetle, do. I have seen some previews of a few New 52 books that look like they might be ok, but I don't like the reboot in general.Β

Sheesh, I know, if I still bought comics, I'd be pissed!Β  I did buy the series where Ted died, so so sad.Β  I dig Plas and Elongated Man too.Β  Plas went through a huge wave of popularity in the league and other books for a while, then they discard him like so much trash.Β

Β I think that all of the properties that DC aqquired through the decades, like the Fawcett, Quality and Charlton characters, should be in the public domain. The only DC use of Plas that I really like is the 1970s Ramona Fradon stuff, but the Kyle Baker version I sort of like, too. I do like the version of Ted Kord from JLI, and that version is why I even know or care who the character is, but obviously DC have no use for him, now. It's difficult for me to think ofΒ those characters as belonging to anyone other than Jack Cole or Steve Ditko, anyway. They should probably be with something like the Project Superpowers stuff.Β

Thanks man. I've figured out how to get much better scans from my scanner just by making a few slight adjustments.

That's cool. I always adjust mine in my photo manipulation program, usually just the contrast and brightness to ensure a crisp pic.

There's an autofix feature in the editing section of my scanner software that greatly improves the quality of the scan. I do somes adjust the contrast and brightness after that.

Nice comp! Just a couple ideas, maybe add some detail to WW's hair, just a bit of muscle definition and have Spider-man's "webbing" go all the way across his head? Again great work!

Thanks. Those are some great observations L-D. It's easy to see I got a little lazy myself on Captain Carrot's ears and Wonder Woman's left arm. An excuse, to be sure, but the thing with CC's ears is because the scan cut them off, so I tried to recreate them digitally. Sometimes, with things like Spider-man's webbing on his mask, I'll try something slightly different just to see what the reactions will be from whoever looks at it. The webbing being drawn in darker in areas was intentional... its supposed to be darker where shadows are being cast on it, such as te left arm being behind WW's hair, but it may not be convincing.
