I don't know why I decided to do this one but I guess I wanted to give an authentic animation cell look to one of my pieces so here it is. This took hours and some revision is still in order.I wanted to depict a scene where Simba is away from Timon and Pumbaa and remembering Pride Rock and his Father.
I am still debating whether to add highlights to Simba or not. In one way i want to leave it in traditional cell format and in another way i think it could add a little something to the picture. Feedback anyone?

I like this picture, it's a nice view into what was going through Simba's head while he was alone, and i'm sure he sat like this many a day.
i'm not an expert on animation cells, or anything of the like, but i'd say it's a pretty good picture ^^ almost looks like it's stright from the movie.

First of all, I love the pic. Not sure if I have commented on this before or not, but I love it.
Secondly...if you want to keep it "animation-cell" ish...defintiely don't add the highlights. But perhaps add a bit more shadow. Not darker, but over more area, and maybe soften the shading slightly more.
But a bit of highlight and/or texture would really make the picture stand out, I think. Depends on what kind of picture you're going for, really.

Kinda hard to give advice when I can't produce this quality yet. It looks great and simba blends in nicely. I think your shoud leave it as is, or maybe brigten up the background.

I'm pretty much on the same lines with Hibbs. I thinks the shading is a little darker that it really should be, and yes Disney does that third tone thing all the time.

*puzzles* Well, in tha movie there are some scenes where they give the characters a sort of third tone--a lighter contour to show some sort of ambience like in the night scenes under the stars. You've got such a diffused, foggy light here... *thinks* and Simba seems to successfully share that kind of light in his color, being somewhat neutral, but the shadows seem a tad strong for all that. Or maybe it's just because the line is so crisp. I'd have a go at fuzzing out the shadow edges and/or lightening them up a bit and then adding a soft highlight to see how it works. It might look like poop, but there's no reason not to try different things, eh? I say, add highlights to see how it looks; won't take long 'tall. Your shtuff is so horribley amazing, ma dear. I love the hills and the dark foliage. You most certainly have the mad skills.
