....or...slightly less heroic.

Sunstorm shifted his position in the feathery moss of the medicine cat's den, wincing as his paw throbbed in pain. The young tom gazed at his surroundings, watching the tiniest dust particles drift lazily in the air as a pale shaft of light filtered through a particularly large crack, among many in the back of the medicine den where he was resting, and he flattened his ears, irritated. Not with the den, but with himself. After failing to amuse himself by tracing with his bright golden gaze the light swirls, ridges and cracks that dotted the walls of the cave, he at last rested his head on his paws, trying to ignore the quiet conversation of cats outside, his ears drooping and heart heavy.

Other cats had been wounded in battle, many a cat severely injured, protecting the warrior code and defending their Clan...some at the cost of their lives. Others, including his apprentice friends, had fought bravely but perished in the tragic attack of camp. The disturbing thoughts swirled through his mind, the scene of the camp when they arrived reflecting in his mind's eye, and he turned, flicking his tail uncomfortably, fighting back memories. Wildpaw. Badgerpaw. Plushpaw. All gone. He shuddered, clenching his teeth in attempt to shake the thoughts from his mind, then sighed.

Their medicine cat had vanished, the only evidence he had ever been was his comforting scent, earthy tinged with the bitter scent of herbs lingering ever so faintly in the air around the new warrior, as if holding on to the last memories of the FireClan camp. Sunstorm took a deep breath, eyes closed, taking comfort in the familiar, musty scent of camp, the only difference from the apprentice den he was so used to being the sharp scent of Russetfur's herb stores in the deepest depths of the cave, out of reach of any mischievous kit's reach, tucked safely in the nooks and crannies of the rock wall

StarClan had gained countless warriors. The den was almost always packed with wounded cats, who had been injured in the invasion, and Sunstorm had taken up residence in the very back of the medicine before the herb stores, nursing his paw, much to his embarrassment, though his mentor had assured him it happened to the best of cats. He wasn't so sure.

Right after the small patrol consisting of Kindlestar, Dawncloud, Rainfeather, himself and Shortpaw had met the MoonClan leader, Patchstar, on the edge of the sheer clliffside nearest to their territory, the young tom had, flooded with energy and nervous antiicpation, mis-stepped, catching his paw between two rocks, skidded slightly, knocking into Rainfeather and just avoiding tumbling completely down to the floor of the gorge.

He was a warrior, but he had not received his injury defending his Clan. Instead, he was defeated by a few rocks.
