Description This is commission I did for . I am not usually to keen on the "Human in Equestria" motif but when he described the setting I found it rather charming.

The scene shows Ike, the human, asleep on the couch at Sweet Apple Acres. Piled on top of him are the CMC who are doing their best to mimic a bunch of house cats. In particular I was happy how I was able to pose Scootaloo in one of those sleeping positions that children can sleep in but generally become impossible by the time you hit 30.

One feature I wanted to convey in the picture is the fact that magical, brightly colored, talking ponies are not that big, especially the foals. One way I did this was by making the couch not nearly big enough for Ike; the other was by giving it a slight sag in the middle as if it is straining under the weight of a human and three foals.

I hope you like what you see. Please help make more art like this possible by supporting me at Patreon

Yes I very much wanted that "Pile of cats sleeping on someone" look to the CMC.

Wow, so cozy...Β  talk about a nap to remember, LOL. the CMC probably just wore themselves out trying to figure out where his(?) cutie mark was.

Like any children they possess the ability to wear out adults around them. Although there are other circumstances that contribute to the general weariness of all.

Oh my......Β I could die happy, if I were in their shoes. owo <3

This is also the first time I've ever seen you draw a full on human before. And I was just thinking about it too only a few days ago. Really awesome to have that question answered.

This is also really relevant to my interests, since I've been trying to write a HiE story of my own. (Hopefully one that can stand up against the ones that give the genre such a mixed reception. )

I have recently read a few HiE fanfics that were actually pretty good so I have grown a little less resistant to the concept, compared to a few years ago.

Also you'll be seeing more humans in the future if nothing else because I will start attend life drawing sessions again in the fall. Something that I haven't been able to do because of my old job.

So you're writing a bit of fanfic huh?

Just out of curiosity, which ones?

ColonelYeo In reply to Baron-Engel [2015-07-10 07:03:23 +0000 UTC]

Well that's good news to hear. It definitely puts my mind at ease that, if you should ever stumble across it somewhere once finished, you won't immediately dislike the the idea.

And nice! That is some very good news. I'm glad that the new job's been able to let you go and get into those sessions. Not that I think you'll need it, but I wish you all the best of luck in the course.

And that I have. It's been an idea I've had for a couple years now. ( It actually started life as plans for a graphic novel, but I didn't feel confident enough at the time to get what I was thinking done.) It actually has to do with those notes I sent you a couple years ago concerning the geography around Ponyville. Work and other things kinda bogged me down, but I've been hoping to get things fired up again.

Yeah I am really trying hard along with everything else going on to trying to stick at least once a week dreamscape postings at least for Equestria. The problem is that Andur is starting to for lack of a better word "come back online" and so things are happening there and I've got no time to really document that. Hell this latest Equestria posting is related to three dreams I had back in early to mid 2012.

ColonelYeo In reply to Baron-Engel [2015-07-10 17:58:07 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh. I see how that would be a bit of a strain. Especially with the sessions and other stuff going on. But I'm sure things will calm down and balance out.

And man, I knew you said there was a backlog for the story... but that's quite more then I was actually expecting.

Baron-Engel In reply to ColonelYeo [2015-07-10 18:18:26 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it is interesting how my dreamscape has diverged in some ways from the show, especially in relation to Luna and Applebloom, and yet it is still following certain aspects of the show. However the Apple clan is now living rather different world than it does in the show and some the effects are just now starting to take effect. Also Scootaloo's life has taken a change in course.

Different lives you say? And a change for Scootaloo? Well.... now that is intriguing. I'll be sure to stay tuned.

It will be a rough one for her. Not as bad as Applebloom's but messy all the same and rather gut-wrenching in spots.Β

Very cute and I love the size differences!Β  Scoot's position does kinda remind me of how one of my cats will lay on the back of the couch sometimes:Β  belvarius.deviantart.com/art/C…

Looking at Ike also brings to mind another important difference in human vs pony shape.Β  We're long and thin while they're more compact.

Baron-Engel In reply to Belvarius [2015-07-09 23:30:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah even adult ponies will have to look up to a human. Princess Celestia could look most adult humans in the eyes. Clyde Troubleshoes would look down a bit at most of us.

The story is definitely unfinished, actually this scene hasn't even happened yet, but there is currently more than 67,000 words to enjoy at the moment.

Here's the link to the Equestria story: www.fimfiction.net/story/11961…

And here's something a little shorter set in a world that belongs to a friend of mine: journeymanic.deviantart.com/ar…
She liked Ike so much she let him intrude.

Be sure to tell me what you like and what you don't. Criticism is more than welcomed.

I usually prefer most "Human in Equestria" stories I read to incorporate the human as translated into a native species (typically as one of the three main pony races).

For those where the human remains human, my favorites are those like this, where the size of the human is large enough for even Celestia to still be a pony by human standards.

And, if I've got the scale right, Troubleshoes would actually be a horse by the standards of the world this human comes from...

I love both the pic and the scene depicted!

Thanks, it was interesting incorporating how I perceive the ponies in my dreamscape with what they might look next to a human, even if it was a somewhat stylized human.

Just enough realism to make it synch with everything else but not so realistic to make things seem out of place.
