Description
This is my second salutation to "2001: A space odyssey".This is the monolith with it's precise dimensions from the book.
The moon have different 'alien' patterns and so on, but notice how the monolith lies inside the crater.
It even absorbs all the light around it, just like in the book.
I haven't said why I like the book and movie. Ofcourse, like all sci-fi, there's alot of hightech stuff.
BUT, it's NOT a normal wild western adventure into space, it's something else.
The way that 2001 tries to be as realistic as possible, and deals with the fact of what if we really found traces of a more intellegent life out there?
Not a man in green suite, or a big insect, but an intellegent civilisation.
Ofcourse, this might sound quite dull, but in this case 2001 deals with the question in an interesting way.
Im not to into sci-fi, but this... is something else.

Ah, good old TMA1....
THe texture on the moon is almost hypnotic. ^_^
Did you base this off of the book or the movie?

Well, I have both read the book and seen the movie, but I have to admit that this was more one of these "I wanna practise some 3d, let's check out this program for landscapes, what to illustrate? Hmm... 2001 is a good source......"
So I guess my answer is that it's just from that imaginary universe, haven't thought about following any specific aspects of either the book or movie.
However, even though the result isn't photorealistic or scientific in any way, I thought it looked nice enough to upload

Seems like it would make an interesting wallpaper.

Well, the resolution of the image is rather high, so if anyone would use it for wallpaper I'd be flattered
