Description
A special breed of Hingyo (insect people) - based on the mosquito.
Zanzara can see well in darkness, but also very sensitive to body odor and heat. Only able to consume fluid, Zanzara can subsist on juicy fruits and plant matters at the cost of spending most time and strength solely on feeding. However, their favorite food is blood. Zanzara's saliva is anesthetic.
Zanzara's long and flexible limbs allow them to directly land above the victim making not a single sound, however those limbs are too weak to stand upright. They prefer hanging upside-down, crawling on vertical walls or resting on water surface. They don't walk a lot as their limbs are not suitable, flying is their main form of locomotion.
Very slender and small in figure compare to other Hingyo breeds, they don't have much physical strength and must rely on stealth alone to hunt. They can fly fast, almost noiseless and change direction very quickly mid air.
For a number of reasons, in Hingyo culture, Zanzara is not the equivalent of vampire, but succubus.
Most Hingyo are diurnal, all nocturnal subspecies (including Zanzara, Reduvi and Cicin) were born from a twisted experiment by a fallen god. They are referred to by their kin as Ombrin (the shadow born)
