Quick and dirty upload for Top Gun day (I forgot again, but I was an an airshow all day so I have an excuse)

Maverick's F-14 from "Top Gun," in the alternate universe where the movie took place in the 90s and Maverick flew an F-14D. Naturally this also means Goose still lives (Yay!)

"But wait," you ask. "If Goose lives, Maverick doesn't get the forced motivation to get his shit together and quit being a whiny little girl!" Well, maybe Maverick faces a DIFFERENT close call. Maybe Goose DOES die and VF-1 doesn't get the message to repaint his name on the jet. Maybe Viper actually goes through on his offer to be Maverick's RIO, and makes the MiG drivers all go "Holy shit it's Viper!" (WHICH TOTALLY SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED BY THE WAY) Hell maybe Kelly McGillis goes butch DURING the movie and makes Maverick re-evaluate his life choices. The F-14D didn't even exist when Top Gun came out. SO CLEARLY SOME CONCESSIONS CAN BE MADE TO ASSUME THE ALTERATION OF THE PLOT OF THE FILM. Not like there aren't plenty of other dangers inherent to carrier aviation.

Anyway, VF-1 F-14D off USS Enterprise loaded for BARCAP over the Indian Ocean.

EDIT: Apparently by 1986 the F-14 NATOPS procedure had been rectified to account for the aircraft's aerodynamic issues in a flat spin and required the RIO to jettison the canopy before initiating the ejection sequence. Goose does not do this, thus leading to his death. So Nick, ya dun goofed.

EDIT 2: One of these days I'll get off my ass and make an F-14A and F-14B. But today is not that day. Neither is tomorrow. Probably.
