~"Well, Ada!" Pterano exclaimed proudly. "I've moved myself up in this flock. Seems that your father--" Without warning, Ada clenched Pterano's beak with her hand and pulled it down so that he was looking at her eye to eye. "You, sir, are inconceivable!" She hissed. "I cannot believe what you just did! Do you pay any attention to your own brashness?" Pterano was startled by Ada's sudden burst of irritation. Yet she seemed more upset than annoyed. "Ada..." He mumbled and grasped her wrist. "Is there something wrong?" He asked. "You!" Ada exclaimed. "It's like you're flying into the jaws of a Sharptooth!" She let go of his beak and crossed her arms, looking at the ground. Pterano folded his wings around his shoulders and tilted his head curiously. It WAS his action that was making her upset. He knew she cared about him. Perhaps...yes. That was it. "No need to worry yourself anymore, Ada." Pterano grinned. "I know your little secret now." He said. Ada looked up at him hopefully. "You are in love with me!" Ada smiled. "Well...now that you've figured it out..." She reached for his hand. "Please try not to do anything foolish." She said. "When have I done anything foolish?" Pterano asked sarcastically. Ada sighed. "Now, let me ask you something." She began. "Do you love me?" She asked. Pterano was surprised. He had never thought about it. "Well, I care about you. I admit that when we were children, I was madly infatuated. But now..." Ada looked as though she'd seize his beak again. Pterano sighed and shook his head. "Yes." He said reluctantly. ~Tsk, tsk. Pterano. That's what you get for taking up on Tybalt's offer...in last picture.

Well, you remember the violet/pink female in that more recent pic of mine? She might also hold his beak, or his frill (you can see the symbolism in the frill more easily), implying that she has a certain kind of influence over him, forcing him to choose between one action she disapproves of, and not 'getting any' from her.
Ever seen the Lysistrata? Sort like that, for comedy.

Neither have I, but I know of it. It's an ancient Greek Comedy in which the women of some cities attempt a sex-strike to get their husbands to end a war, but it doesn't go nearly as planned. Hilarity ensues.

Well, in addition to mating, Pterano's mate (in my fic) could probably take advantage of drives for power (flattering him sometimes, knocking him down a peg other times), and his drives for non-sexual pleasure too, as well as his need to rest.

Of course. Most of the contact is non-intimate. It is only an issue of "intimacy" 2-3 times a week. A lot of it would be like Pterano saying how great he is, and she rolls her eyes. Some of it would be nice communication, a lot of it would be getting and sharing food.

Much of the relationship is necessarily reinforced by physical sensations, as they are, frankly, animals. It is mostly harmless things like giving the other a back scratch or foot rub... a bit like stoking a cat or dog.

Well, he is larger, stronger, and would win in most fights... not to mention if there is another male flyer trying to do something bad, he would be able to drive the bad one off... and yes, he probably has more sway with other dinosaurs, possibly due to a more impressive appearance and the aforementioned size and strength... plus, it isn't like she doesn't want to mate at ALL... he can influence her if she is in the right mood, just that she isn't in that mood half as often as he is.

He might have made himself look like an @$$ in front of a whole crowd, then try to feel better later by asking his mate to mate... but then she kicks him there. Something like:
Pterano: Well, that was a hard time. They don't give me what I deserve. They don't deserve me!
Mate: Oh, get over it.
Pterano: And how about you? Will you give me the attention fit for me? (holds part of himself off-screen in her direction)

I gave her larger claws than the movie series or you pics would have given female flyers, but this is mostly so it can be believed by the 90% of people who do not know that from the film series.
