Description

While commissioning Julia Carpenter images with Ben Reilly, I considered who else I could pair with her. It occurred to me that, among his appearances, Ben as Spider-Man did team up with Backlash.

Created within Jim Lee's WildStorm company, then a part of Image Comics, Backlash was a character whose early series I had collected. Kind of a "Spider-Man meets Nick Fury" character, Marc Slayton was the seasoned veteran and respected instructor of the StormWatch superhero team before he went AWOL. With his black 'n' white costume and distinct psi-whip, it seemed apropos to commission another Spider crossover, this time with Julia and her psi-webs.

I'd requested a shared action or ready pose, but the talented redgvicente put the two heroes in direct combat, the time-honored tradition for when inter-company crossovers were more commonplace!
