Description
*edited to add* I am 5 ft 8 inches and 135-55 lbs. This is my tummy.
I've had a couple of surgeries, one that was major, and two minor ones when I was a teenager. One for a 5.5 lb ovarian cyst in which I lost one whole ovary(It's okay, i wasn't planning on using it anyway!), and another for a twisted blood vessel(the smaller scar). I also had a breast reduction at 18, I was previously a 34 DDD.
The scars for a long time were very very prominent and sometimes painful, especially the scars on my breasts. My husband didn't care, but I was sort of fascinated/horrified by them.
That all was about 10 years ago now and the scars are quite faded. The emotional scars from high school are fading too, finally. It wasn't that I had such a bad time now that I look back, but it sure felt like a horrible time. I'm suprised that I survived considering the degree of depression I was dealing with.
Anyway, I was taking pictures of my temporary blonde-ness and saw that the scars were very faded now and wanted to snap a quick pic. Plus I want photographic evidence that I was one thin and svelt when I'm 70- provided the world has not exploded by that point. And if you want to ask me about the reduction, please feel free to. I think it was the best thing I have ever done and I've never regretted it, and I'm not embarrassed about it. If I can manage it, I might take photos sometime... but that's a bit more personal than my tummy. XD
BOY MY GALLERY GETS WEIRDER EVERY DAY DOESN'T IT? D:

Your body is just beautiful. I am the kind of person who feels that scars are not only sexy, but a reminder of battles won. I personally am thinking of getting a breast reduction because of the stress on my spine, not to mention low confidence. This is a very lovely picture and it makes me feel better. Thank you for posting it.

I'm not scheduled for a reduction yet, but I'm planning for one in March during spring break. It actually looks like we're about the same size (your pre-op size) so I was wondering what size you decided to get them reduced to, and if your doctor told you how small you could go. My mom had hers reducted to a 40A or something, and I was thinking something pretty small too.

I was down to a B, but over time I'm up to about a 34C cup now almost ten years(and 20 lbs) later. When I had the reduction I asked for an A, but the doctor felt like I was being reactionary and would be happier at a B... and he was right. I'm a good size now that I fill out a dress but not so much that i can't get the stupid thing zipped up. Good luck! Go with your gut instinct. :3

Thank you! But yeah, I think I'm going to go for the A. And I absolutely know what you mean about the dresses. I had a cute little black one that fit me everywhere else...I think I might still have it....haha not the point xd
Anyways, thank you again!

Hey there
Long story short, i was supposed to get a reduction in december 2007. I completley panicked and couldnt go through it. It's taken a lot of pain and suffering to finally be able to have it again, i've pretty much lost my entire life to how much they have effected me.
Im supposed to be having one on the 15th september. I'm scared i wont be able to go through it, thinking of being put to sleep terrifies me that i wont wake up. I try hard to see the positive side of getting it done, but it just doesnt cancel out my fear. Im scared that if i do wake up, i wont be happy with them. I want them to be as small as possible, i have having breasts.
Probably makes me sound incredibly paranoid, but any words of wisdom would be hugely appreciated.

*hughug* I've had two major surgeries and one minor, had my wisdom teeth removed and also four teeth pulled- so a total of five times i've been put under. I have no ill effects, in fact the worst thing is that i have a slight sensitivity to the anesthetic and i wake up nauseous. I was terrified before my first surgery. I told the nurses and doctors and they were very comforting. My dentist gave me some valium to take before my recent tooth surgery to help me calm down before i went under, but i don't know if they can do that with something major like breast surgery. You might ask and see.
When my husband went under for his wisdom teeth(they were twisted and impacted, so the surgery took about four hours), he was afraid he'd never wake up. He was a basketcase before he went in, but he knew that he wouldn't be able to handle the surgery awake. When he came to, whatever they gave him to wake him up made him incredibly loopy. Here is this tall, broad shouldered, built guy in his late 20's giggling like a school girl. Every turn i took on the way home he'd go, "WEEEEEEE!" like a little kid. He also kept babbling the entire time, but i couldn't understand him because his mouth was full of gauze. Neither here nor there, but it's a funny story about the aftermath of surgery.
It took me a while to be happy with my boobs after surgery. All skin gets swollen after surgery and it took a month or so for them to start looking and behaving normally. They didn't look bad, they just looked a bit fake if that makes sense. But when I first got to go bra shopping and I got a tiny cute bra that was light weight and so comfortable and CUTE, i was so happy. When I went bathing suit shopping and was able to easily get a top and bottom that fit and I didn't have to find a specialty store for them, i was so happy. As I've gotten older they've gotten a bit fuller since i've gained some weight- but they're still only a C cup. I've extremely happy with them now, they don't hurt when I run, they don't suffocate me at night, they're still perky as hell, and when i wear a tight t-shirt grandmothers no longer give me the evil eye.
*hughug* It's going to be okay and you'll get through this. <3 <3

Thats really good to hear, thankyou for taking the time to message me!
The first time i guess i kept telling myself id be ok, or i'd go another day. Now it's so many years since and i've only put on weight and become even more miserable than i was. Because it started when i was 16, i've never been shopping for myself for things i'd actually like to wear, so that will be a big shock. I'm not worried about being so uneven, which i will be (still got the huge thighs etc) but i just want rid of these damn things. Just to be able to lay down without them travelling is going to be unbelieveable.
Its stupid too because i know if i do come out the other side fine, im going to be SO angry with myself for not doing it sooner. I guess its also being afraid of losing control - being in a theatre i'll be totally at the mercy of these scapel weilding folks who have the ability to give me my life back. Pretty strange
Gah, rambling. Thankyou so much though, it really really means a lot. Good to see actual post op scarring too, thankyou for posting them

Hey, you said questions were welcome about your breast reduction surgery...
I've been seriously considering getting a reduction for a long time. I'm a 36 DDD and it's just ridiculous. I can't fit into anything off the rack, and they're huge and gross and I hate them. Plus, of course, I've had back problems since I was about 16.
I'm just terrified about the surgery. My mom had a reduction and it turned out just awful for her. the vertical scar from nipple to crease healed extremely tight, and now her breasts look sort of like two upside-down hearts. Plus she's got a really bad fold of skin under her arms, on top of the horizontal scar.
She was older than I am when she got it, but not by much. Maybe 28, 29? And I'm 23. What do you think?

batchix In reply to NatassjaKing [2010-04-21 17:56:55 +0000 UTC]
I think that sounds more like a problem with the surgeon, that shouldn't happen. It might be correctable by another plastic surgeon as well. :< Anyway, the treatment for scars has come a long way as well. From what i've heard there are more topical creams to help them heal faster and smoother as well. My mother had the scar from her hysterectomy fixed a few years back(the muscles had been cut and sewn wrong and were causing her extreme pain) and not only is the scar now invisible it didn't create any new scars.
My scars right afterward were puffy and painful, like thick ropes but they never tightened like that. After 5-6 years they faded and now they're the least noticeable of all the surgery scars i have.

like hurting? Or numbness? I had stabbing random pains(which are the nerves coming back to life) for about three years. Also phantom itches, also caused by nerves repairing themselves. I still get those sometimes. I was numb in places for about five years, but the sensitivity eventually came back entirely. :3

I like my proportions though, so if I get a reduction and then lose weight, I'll be really small... '3'
Not sure what to do. Back pain stinks...

This photo is a great inspiration to me. I came across it accidentally - I have scars in the same places as I had the same surgery, fairly recently so they are very prominent. You showed me that even if they don't fade completely, they don't matter too much as long as I'm loved for who I am.

I think its amazing how you're not afraid to tell about something so person on here.
I've never had any serious surgeries or something like that before, but I do have this odd patch of skin on the pad of my right thumb where I sliced a chunk out of it while I was washing knives once. Not that bad, but its really weird looking...and it hurts sometimes. But, anyway, besides that, all's I get are a ton of small scars from scratches, so thats why I think your strong.
Anyway, so I won't freak you out more, I'll leave now.lol

I guess talking about it makes me feel less concerned about it... it doesn't seem so personal. My little nephew asked me why I didn't have a belly button. :S I do, it's just sort of warped. In retrospect I should have told him I was an alien. But just being upfront about what happened and why I have scars makes me feel better about them.

"Ate it" on a bike when around 10. Handlebars swung around back towards me which caused the gooseneck and top frame bar to scissor a quarter sized, almost perfectly round, shallow cup of flesh out of the top of my thigh. Was more shocking than painful believe it or not. I have this funky pudding dollop scar there now. I think your scar run'n down from your belly button is beautiful. Like a tattoo of smooth texture rather than pigment.
