Description
Late Miocene, about 6 MYA. On the snow-covered Qinghai Plateau, Amphimahairodus, one of the largest cats in the Earth history, while carrying a killed Tsaidamotherium, stumbled upon a two-ton Ningxiatherium that had risen from its bed. Rhinoceros do not see well, but have a good hearing and sense of smell, which, nevertheless, let it down, letting it smell the saber-toothed cat only when it was nearby, and now Ningxiatherium is at a loss. Tsidamotherium is a strange ungulate, related to the modern takin, which had only one horn well developed. Ningxiatherium, related to well-known Elasmotherium, may have had a single horn that was strongly bent forward.Related content
