Description Lunar Eclipse I...

So i went out tonight like most of us on this site and tried to get some shots of the eclipse. My shots won't be near as good as anyone on here because i have never done night shooting before, and my zoom lens isn't the greatest but here is my attempt. They won't really come up in any order just as i pick which ones i like.

Yours certainly came out better than mine! At least yours are clear...I wasn't able to use my tripod because the release head was being retarded... This is a beautiful shot! Congrats on your first successful attempt on nightshots!

bcdirector In reply to kkuffnerphotos [2008-02-28 04:12:37 +0000 UTC]

It is very handy but also very useful.. Produces sharper images by taking away the smallest shakes from pressing the button

what kind of lens were you using, size and make?

bcdirector In reply to rjs [2008-02-22 04:48:55 +0000 UTC]

I was using a Sigma 100-300mm that came with my camera. Not the greatest lens but its useful

rjs In reply to bcdirector [2008-02-22 04:53:55 +0000 UTC]

wow not bad for a 300, normal people use a 600 and better for moon scapes. I am pretty impressed, you got some great color

Hah! Mine were so bad compared to this. I, sadly, still am using my 18-55mm lens though. So I couldn't get very close at all. Great shot.

bcdirector In reply to PaintingSunday [2008-02-22 04:26:06 +0000 UTC]

haha yea i have that lens too but I use my buddies 18-85 lens as my staple since he barely uses his camera But for this i used my Sigma 100-300, but it isn't that great at its longest focal length.

Echo-Velocity [2008-02-21 20:02:47 +0000 UTC]

It would have been better if the moon was clear, but still, a very well composed shot that has the potential to be very good (some photoshop sharpening?).

A couple people were out waiting for a good shot of the moon, but we had clouds that basically ruined any good shots of the moon out in the open.

Maybe in 2010 I'll get some shots of it.

bcdirector In reply to Echo-Velocity [2008-02-22 06:07:13 +0000 UTC]

haha i sharpened it a bit.. This was more of a test, i wasn't equiped to shoot this.. 2010 will prove better i am sure

The eclipse was lovely...I watched it and shot some pictures of it, but I suck at taking pictures of the moon (always have) seems my ISO is always too high and I get super grain. I think your shot shows the great color

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bcdirector In reply to Jimbosbaby [2008-02-22 07:13:31 +0000 UTC]

Yea i made the mistake of starting at 800 iso, this shot i had finally dropped it down, but i couldn't really tell how the shots were turning out on my camera. I am just glad i was able to get one decent shot
