Voltorb always looked pretty cool to me. Mostly his eyes; they give off a sense of coolness I suppose. Which is probably why Electrode (his evolution) simply didn't look as cool. I was always able to best my friends at the pokemon stadium min game involving him. How you could mistake something this big for a pokeball in the games though is beyond me...
