Think of it this way, we humans are largely water yet we can die in it and the same for Bendy, he is largely ink yet he needs air and can be drowned too.

This might be just a theory it I thought bendy couldn't die ( cartoon thing) and isn't he an ink demon which means he can't drown but travel through the ink unless those rope make unable to do so ( man I watch to much theorys)
