Description
Rana Green walked out of her front door and down the street. She trudged through the snow, wishing today was the first day of winter break- but she'd have to wait 7 ½ more hours for that. She shivered from the cold, and suddenly craved a cup of her mothers homemade hot cocoa. Then she heard a voice from behind her.
"Hey," said Geru, "Cold out here, eh?"
Rana smiled to her self and turned around to face her boyfriend.
"Hey Geru," she said, "Yeah, it's gotta be, like, 14 degrees out here."
Rana turned back around as Geru caught up to her. He put his arm around her.
"There. Better?" He said, and pulled Rana closer.
"Yeah," she said, and they met up with the rest of their friends- Yani, Nime, Mira, and Taneau- at the corner, where they turned left towards the high school.
"God, I cannot WAIT until break- I could barley pull myself out of bed this morning " Said Mira, the youngest of the group.
"I know," said Rana, still pressed against Geru as they walked. "I'm still not awake."
"Well, I know I'm looking forward to sleeping in and not going to school for two whole weeks." Said Taneau. "Hey, the new years party still on at your place, Nime?"
"Definitely- been planning on it for three months, haven't we?" said Nime as they approached the school entrance, and took their place by the picnic tables before the bell rang. Geru and Rana sat down, his arm still around her.
"Man, I at least wish today was a half day. Isn't the last day before winter break always a half day?" Mira said as she kicked at the ice under the bench.
"Um, I think..." Yani said.
"Well why can't today be a half day? Because its Friday? Well, school board, let me say that-"
"Save your protesting, Mira. You'll live." Said Taneau as the bell rang, and they all went their separate ways to their classes.

"I'm just saying, I could be home having a cup of hot chocolate with extra marshmallows watching old family guy reruns right now instead of sitting in class learning about the stupid eastern hemisphere," said Mira as she sat down for lunch.
"Mira. You've been talking about this for three hours. Please, You're driving us crazy- again." said Yani.
"Fine." Mira said, discouraged, and took a bite of her pizza. Taneau took her hand from under the table, and she smiled at him.
"So this new years eve thing is so gonna rock. I got confetti poppers, five different sodas, heck I even snagged a bottle of champagne from my parents cellar," said Nime.
"Whoa, champagne? We can't drink," Mira said, gripping Taneau's hand tighter.
"And how'd you get a bottle from your parents cellar?" asked Geru.
"Yeah, your parents always know if even a drop of liquor is missing," said Yani.
"Relax, I poured the champagne into a sprite bottle and the sprite into the champagne bottle with food coloring. It'll work," said Nime, leaning back in his chair.
"Well, wouldn't your parents know someone swapped it when they go to drink some champagne?" Asked Taneau.
Nime's eyes got wider and he almost fell out of his chair.
"Son of a- did NOT think that through- man, I am SO dead " He said, running his fingers rapidly through his short blonde hair.
"Chill out, they have a ton of champagne in the cellar. As long as they don't open the one with sprite and food coloring, you'll be good until after the party," said Rana. "But I'm steering clear of the 'sprite'."
"Me too," said Mira.
"Same here," said Taneau, giving Mira a reassuring smile.
"I'm just looking forward to all of us on new years just having fun with no one telling us what to do," said Yani as she dipped a fry in some ketchup.
"Tell me again how you convinced your parents to leave for new years?" Geru asked.
"Didn't have to. They always go to a motel on new years eve... I don't really wanna talk about it." Nime said.
"You mean they do what you and Yani did last new years eve?" Taneau said with a smirk. Everyone other than Yani and Nime laughed.
"Yeah, I heard it was real awkward. They ran into Nime's parents in the lobby," said Mira, laughing with the others.
"We did not " Said Yani, clearly embarrassed.
"Alright guys, knock it off. It's not like we we're the only ones," said Nime, looking at Geru and Rana.
"What- Geru and I have not had sex " Rana whispered.
"Whatever you say, Rana," said Mira, "Whatever you say."
"Why do you all think like that?" Geru said.
"Well...." Mira started.
"Don't answer that." said Geru.
