Description
My name is Shya. I am twelve years old and I live in what used to be the fire nation colonies. My mother, Larnor, is a water bender from the north. My father, Shyzues, is a fire bender. I realized my bending power at 6 years old. How I used to long to be like my powerful water bending mother. But I was born with a curse. I was a fire bender.
I know that the war has ended, and most people of this world have begun to forgive the fire nation again. But even though that my father is not a solider or one of the “bad” fire nation men, I always knew that fire wasn’t bad, but I felt in my heart that water was better.
I am here to share with you the story of my struggle to find peace and tranquility with my ‘gift’. I hope you will enjoy my diaries.

                                                   Dear diary,
I’m still not at all comfortable with what mother and father call my ‘gift’. Fire doesn’t bring anything but pain, war, and destruction. Water brings healing, peace, and life. I’ve tried everything I can to try to rid my fire bending and replace it with water bending. Most people say that is just plain nonsense, but my parents encouraged me. I could tell they weren’t sure if it would really work, but they helped me out with everything and for that I am truly grateful. I’ve tried meditating, meditating at the spirit oasis in the northern water tribe, drinking a sip of the spirit water… nothing. It’s hopeless. Let’s just face it- I’m stuck with this curse for the rest of my life, and the rest of the world- including me- knows it. I cry myself to sleep because I know that what I have is not a curse, but my heart says it is. That what I have is an ability, not a disability. That what I have makes me as unhappy as I could be. But I know that I was made like this for a reason, not for no reason.
My dream is to someday meet the Avatar, and his friends (which includes fire lord Zuko)  who helped them save the world, and travel the world with them. I know, it sounds stupid, but I know I just want to at least meet them. I hope my dream comes true.
