Description I have been a fan of 9 ever since I saw the short film in 2004 [link]
I can't wait for the movie to come out, I'm psyched!!

This is a remade version of my other entry, [link]
I fixed it up and colored it. Please download to view full size.

After The Fabricator ran out of materials in the factories it needed a way to retrieve more, but it could not spend all of it's time trying to retrieve them all. It needed to create something that could dig through the trash and find things that were of value to The Fabricator. So it created Scavenger.

The Fabricator moved it's way through the piles of trash and debris looking for items it could use. Days passed and all it had to show for was four billiard balls, two golf clubs, a lead pipe, and a windshield wiper. Not very worthwhile at all. It had collected enough spare pieces of metal to create another eye, but without a body that would not do much good. Something glinted through a pile of trash. The Fabricator hurried it's hulk over to the spot and began to dig through. Shortly after starting it found a knife block with three knives in it, this was quite the find and would become very useful. Still The Fabricator did not move very fast and had only covered a mile over the last week. As it rounded a particularly large pile of trash it saw a tree. It was very rare to find a tree nowadays, it had made sure of that itself. But this tree was very different, it was about two feet tall and its roots were made of rubber. The Fabricator stared at it for a minute, analyzing it very carefully. Finally it matched up with something in its database. A plunger. Grabbing the top of the handle it pulled to remove it from the ground. Only the stick came out however and the rubber base stayed 'rooted' in the ground. After a couple of minutes of working at it, The Fabricator was able to remove it from the ground without damaging it. It put it inside its storage compartment with the other odd bits. When it looked up to continue its journeyings it found a small enclosure. The plunger had distracted it from noticing this before, but everything it was looking for had been right in front of it for the last three minutes or so. It had a fence mad of rebar and chicken wire. Along the top of it was barbed wire. inside the enclosure was small shelter constructed out of many odd bits of plastic acting as supports and a roof made out of sheet metal. The Fabricator quickly tore through the fence, being careful not to damage it too much, and approached the shelter. Right outside it found two deceased organisms. One was much larger than the other and bipedal. The other appeared to be a quadruped. The skeleton of the biped was badly damaged, but the spinal column was for the most part intact. Other than that the only other bone in one piece was... according to the database a 'femur' bone. The bipedal skeleton had several scraps of cloth around it, but no flesh. The quadruped had apparently died by being crushed, probably by one of The Fabricator's creations, and had rotted to the point that all that remained was a thin hide. The biped however, seemed to have been eaten by the quadruped. Many of the bones had been broken open and the marrow had been eaten out. This did not matter to The Fabricator however, they would both serve it in death if not in life. Peering inside the shelter it saw a soup can filled with nails. The Fabricator had all the materials it would need. It began constructing a courier that could run through the trash and find materials that would be useful. The Fabricator suspended a large ribcage made of strips of the roof and chicken wire underneath the spine for storage. Supporting it with a few pieces of rebar on the inside and it proved to be quite sturdy. It quickly constructed the legs out of anything at hand and moved on to the feet. It took a couple hours to create the feet. They needed to be nimble yet durable, using some of the scrap metal it had found and pieces of the roof it eventually finished will all four feet, tying up the loose pieces with the cloth found on the biped. The Fabricator calculated that it would be more efficient if it had a covering of some sort. So it carefully removed the hide of the quadruped and draped it over its creation, fastening it with a couple nails. It found a couple strange pieces of material outside the enclosure and fastened them to the shoulders and back. The head was constructed out of the knives, golf clubs, soup can, plunger head, a weird metal thing found on the outskirts of the enclosure, quite a few nails, a custom made fitting for the eye, and finally the eye itself. The beast slowly came to, and found its way to its feet. After a minute or two the processor inside the eye had calculated proper running cycles and the beast bounded off to fulfill its purpose, collecting scraps.

I like the design. It and the story behind it make sense and I can follow the idea. Great Job.
