Nothing I came up with. It's something actually pretty common. Even in the diet industry, they have quite often compared body shapes to either apple of pear.
And it probably makes it seems more savory in some ways.

When it comes to fruit, I love apples and find pears repugnant. When it comes to the ladies, one that is well proportioned in the front and the back is a real treasure... I guess that's a papple shape (not to be confused with the Papal Shape, the vigilante that keeps the streets of the Vatican safe from crime and Scientology).
