Well, she is wearing socks (as I say in the little blurb that she had just kicked off her shoes).
As for being 500 pounds in real life, well...I based the drawing on someone I saw who was probably more like 400 pounds. I exaggerated her features a bit in the drawing.
I did see a 540 pound woman in real life, and it's almost intimidating. It takes a while for the brain to get accustomed to how big it really is.
