Nightfall drew in swifter than anticipated, made darker in appearance by the relentless blizzard in which the small expedition battled tirelessly. Gondor took the head of the group, his larger frame offering some relief from the whipping winds and freezing barrage of snow for Sylvester and his master trailing along in his footsteps. "Keep going!" Tak yelled over the screeching winds, his voice lost to the storm as Gondor peered sheepishly round with half closed eyes to acknowledge that something had been said. Poor Sylvester fought against the storm, his pale coat billowing around him as he squinted to keep sight of Gondor just a few paces ahead, and yet still almost completely cloaked by the snow. Tak hugged close to Silly's neck, his gloved hands buried deep in the thick fur of his mane while is scarf and hood did it's best to protect his freckled face from frostbite. The mountain path was treacherous, filled with sharp turns and sudden drops that would surely take the life of any to misplace their footing, and yet Gondor and Sylvester felt as though they knew exactly which way they were supposed to go. Within the howling winds of the blizzard, the tokotas swore they could hear another voice guiding them safely through the hazardous trails that lead high into Aippaq's Throne. The young males had never travelled to this sacred region of Tokotna before, but like all pups, they had heard many stories about the strange happenings and sightings reported by almost all who dared venture to the peak. "You still with us?" Tak yelled over his shoulder, peering hard into the storm behind them to be sure the smaller figure of Boon hadn't been swept away by the winds, or that he hadn't simply opted to bail on the adventure. A shrill bark over the wind confirmed that the black wildling was indeed still with them, even if none of them could really see him through the complete whiteout. Boon hopped in and out of Sylvester's footprints, seemingly unaffected by the storm as he made a game out of it, much to Tak's amusement as he listened to the older male barking happily from behind.

As Gondor lead them higher and higher, the blistering wind seemed to calm and the horizon began to fade back into view. Tak lowered his hood and pushed his thick scarf down from around his face, his mittens wiping away the powdered snow that had gathered in his eyebrows and hair now that he could finally open his eyes. Sylvester stopped to allow Boon to catch up, the little toki continued to busy himself hopping in and out of the deep craters created by Silly and Gondor in their efforts to plough the snow for whomever was behind. Gondor barked excitedly, the sound carried on the now gentle wind as he peered up at the peak just a few feet away from them. The snow seemed to stop abruptly and settle in soft blankets around their feet as Tak sat himself upright and continued to brush off snow, his eyes wide and bright as he took in the breathtakingly beautiful and clear skies above them. Stars glittered and danced for as far as the four of them could see and the night air held a strange glow, a colour surely the moon alone could not produce as it sat high and proud above their heads, stark white against the deep blue of the evening. "It's beautiful," Tak breathed, and Sylvester barked in agreement as he followed a shooting star across the horizon with his wide eyes. Gondor stared open mouthed, his awe for the beauty of the peak apparent as he stood in silence beside Boon, who sat himself down for a well deserved rest in the cool snow. A voice carried on the wind once more, soft and motherly as it spoke in it's own way to the four travellers upon the edge of the world. Sylvester's ears twitched as he followed it into the night sky where the song illuminated against the stars in an ethereal green glow, swirling and dancing until it formed a great raven with bright eyes and mighty wings. Tak gasped, his heart tight with both fear and awe as Sylvester took a hesitant step away from the edge of the peak. Gondor stared up with an overwhelming sense of majesty as the voice in his own ears swirled into the form of a fierce wolf, it's mighty jaws parting to display celestial teeth as it threw back it's head in a long, piercing howl.

Boon tossed back his black head without hesitation, his own song mixing with the songs of the stars as his eyes closed and the world seemed to fall away. Gondor's song joined in next, his legs stretching him up onto his tiptoes as he longed to touch the great spirit overhead. Sylvester reared onto his back legs as he sang, warm air billowing from his parted maw like a cloud as Tak clung onto his steed, and once Silly stood on all fours once more, the young man cupped his own mouth and howled along with the small pack. The raven's screech filled Sylvester with a strange and overwhelming sense of purpose, his tail raising as again he sang forth as loudly as his chilled lungs would allow him. Again and again the travellers sang to their hearts content, sharing their emotions with the night sky as the great wolf and raven circled overhead, their bodies twisting and dancing in and out of one another. It was an odd sensation, and for the first time in his life, Gondor truly felt small and vulnerable, yet equal to his brothers in arms. Sylvester's chest puffed proudly as he sang with his master, their voices as one as Tak screamed into the heavens until his lungs threatened to explode right there in his chest. Boon's tail wagged as he watched his younger companions discover their inner fires, their true paths revealing themselves in this place of revelation as it had done for him in his youth; how proud he was to witness it as a bystander, a feeling Tak understood and cherished to the same extent. The world stood still for them as they sang late into the night, the stars moving and dieing right before their very eyes as the great wolf and raven ate them, and spat forth new lights to guide their disciples safely on their journey to discover their true selves.
