Description Isometric Dungeon Corridor.

My first attempt at isometric scenery. A learning piece.

(Discovered I can't see two shades of grey and assorted colours on this crummy laptop monitor - so it might look a bit high contrast / lurid)

Perhaps I should be designer in a larger scale larger – with less detail?

I wanted to add a few more props – like a timber bar from the door on the flagstones, the odd skull. But I need to walk away from it for a day or so.

The grid on the floor is based on Dungeons and Dragons (and Warhammer Quest) floor-plans where a square = 5 ft. I wanted to keep the grid clearly visible – this may be erased later on.

I’m not happy with door – may stick to archways for now. Irregular shapes still a bit of mystery …

Of course, dungeon scenery is no good without heroes and monsters – which I have yet to learn how to do *wink/grin*

The plan is to either design a whole dungeon or create modular pieces which can be used by myself or other dungeon masters / map makers.

One idea which came to mind was to create a library of basic tiles and walls and set up a community on deviant art where people submit their own rooms, monsters and props. Then perhaps we put them all together in a poster.

But I’m getting ahead of myself …

A dungeon corridor.

looks great!, reminds me of the old Heroquest computer game for the Atari ST, based on the board game by GW & MB

You finished it! Good job! Loving the moss and the way the walls are so irregular. Slime coming from the window cool as well!

(I expect you've double or triple posted this in other places haven't you?)

Thanks Itti.
I'm not even sure it's a window or a drain, I originally wanted the slime to be subtle moss ... but one gets carried away and ends up sliming the whole wall - slime-vent - yup - it's an underground "slime vent" ... for ... erm ... for slime!

I'm wondering if irregular shapes are somehow "breaking the rules" in pixel art - all buildings have to look like well scrubbed minimalist cuboid bauhausian carparks ...

One day I'll learn how to do people and monsters ...

Never mind the people - progress to monsters!
Actually how about robots? They can be box shaped so it might be a nice inbetween place to go to.

Robots? In my fantasy medieval dungeon.

Mind you - retro futurama style robots may be worth a look into ...

As a practice silly You'd have to keep them out of the dungeon - they might mess it up. Or rather, tidy it up ^_^

Actually I rather like the idea -
All these sparkly brightly coloured metal robots tutting and complaining about how messy the dungeon is ...

Oh, wot wot? It's finished? It's even better than I expected! Well done, very detailed work. You should be very proud of yourself. For a first attempt this is better than some people's 20th or so

*round of applause for yoooou* Yay!

Why thank you Mrs. Simpkin! *big ear-to-ear grin*

Why stop here why I can build/dig the rest of the dungeon ....?

(ps. when I read your name, I always think of Mrs. Peel from The Avengers for some bizarre reason ...)
