I drove an 82 F150 Ranger XLT Lariat for the last 10 years, I love that truck, it's been all over Canada and the US! I just last winter started to drive a 94 F350 with a deck, but I still miss my 82 sometimes...

Indeed, the 1981 F250 Custom (not an 82 as it is titled in Iowa, US) has an in-line 8. I am trying to work on buying the cab, engine, and transmission from my mother in law as so I can put it into a "southern, 1981 frame". Up north the salt just slowly eats away much of the structure. Being up there this summer and getting a good week to work on the interior/exterior, I found out how much "cancer rust" was there. One of the metallic support straps for the fuel tank snapped, the left rear break line (metal, not RUBBER) has corroded open and I didn't have time to replace those. That means this winter I will not be driving it... NOOOOOO!!!!
Point is: my wife's family save it on the farm for myself to drive around in because... nobody uses it. I find it sad, but beautiful... my little escape from everything: nervous to see if my work ensures it drives, excited at the freedom of being alone and driving something you are helping to keep around.
Keep your fingers crossed! There is nothing special about this truck except that it is unique to itself and I hope to give it a new life in a new frame, bed, and the works!...
