I'm glad you're learning to speak spanish. If more people were like you we "latinos" wouldnt wave the problems we have now. Anyway, let me just help you with small errors in your sentence.
You wrote: "Buenos tardes el chico, como esta usted?"
Translation, word by word: "Good afternoon the kid, how are you?"
Correct translation: "Buenas tardes chico, como esta usted?"
Let me explain:
Instead of "Buenos" it should be "Buenas" because "afternoon" in spanish is female aka "tardes", in english its male. So its "buenAs tardes".
Also you should lose the "el" before "chico" because when tranlated this would mean "the kid". So its not necessary.
