Description Most furry-skinned animals went extinct when the Epimethian Ice Age ended, but a few types persisted. The smaller, rodent-like Cilliderms come in two varieties: fuzzy puff-ball herbivores and sleek rat-like omnivores. The puff-balls live in colder and/or arid regions, where their low surface area and surprisingly long legs that can also be folded up inside the skin play to their advantage. Epimethian rats, however, live in tropical forests, taking advantage of the numerous hiding places provided by the thick undergrowth.

Is it me or do they look a little too much like earth mammals

They do look a bit Earthly. That isn't a fault in of itself, but there are some things you could do to make them look more alien. Maybe the eyes could be surrounded by a single round eyelid like a chameleon's, but for insulation against cold; or retractible ears that can be used to signal to nestmates; or soft pastel blues and greens instead of mammalian brown and gray.

I like your ideas! Would you mind if I incorporate them into my next project?

They are more alien on the inside, but it's difficult to show that.
Maybe I should post their skeletal structures, like you do. That would help distinguish them.
