Description A quick and dirty tutorial on a relatively easy way to do faux silkscreening. As I've pointed out in the tutorial it's a good technique for creating all kinds of diffirent graphics. I just chose to do class patches because they're a relatively simple intro project.

and no, I didn't include patterns with this. you're smart kids, you'll figure it out. If you can't or you just don't feel like it you can just find a high-res image of the desired template, print it and do a graphite transfer. It may also be possible to print directly onto the paper with an inkjet printer (NOT LASER.) though I haven't personally tried it.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

Is there any way if we could replace the freezer paper with some other type of paper, say, wax paper or plastic+paper or whatever? Or do was absolutely have to use freezer paper?

Nope. If you're gonna do it this way, it's gotta be freezer paper.

Dang. I was wondering, because I don't want to buy an entire roll of freezer paper, use it for one project and never use it again. Would you say that freezer paper is a good investment, though?

I use it to make t-shirts and things. And you can always use it for its actual intended purpose, ie; wrapping food.

Besides it's like $5 for a roll.

Anyways, thank you for the advice and the tutorial. I'm planning on going as the Engineer for Atomic Lollipop this July. ^^

Sounds fun! Best of luck. I've got a BLU engie costume I put together a couple years ago that I wear to cons when the mood strikes me.

School happened, end-of-year things happened, so I couldn't find the time to finish the cosplay by the 12th, which is when I leave for the convention. Though, I do plan on finishing a Dispenser-shaped backpack by then, which I'll use in the FanExpo in August with my full cosplay.

The only thing is... finding decently-priced overalls in 2014 is a lot trickier than expected. I'm still looking. XD

I ended up just ordering online. Paid like 20 bucks, so not bad.

Ya think if I just search 'overalls on sale' on google or ebay I'll get something like that?

Ah.
Do you know the exact website you got it from, or what exactly I should search up on google to find a suitable site?

Um I looked up freezer paper on the mIcheal's website and "non- stick parchment " came up, is that it?

You actually want to hit a grocery store to get that stuff. Even if you could find it at a micheals they'd charge way too much.

Anyway it's just called "Freezer paper" and you'll find it near the tin foil and wax paper.

um question whats the matte side?

bionic-dingo In reply to Miss-Valerie [2011-12-28 15:36:29 +0000 UTC]

"matte" is the opposite of 'shiny'. So if you look at your paper, you will notice one side is shiny, and the other is not.

I really need to buy some freezer paper. ;D Do you have a preferred paint?

I used acrylic cause it's what I already had. anything that won't run when put on the fabric or wash off after it's dried will do.
