Description A study I did for Storm's commission

The hands are thick because they serve as pads and absorb the impact. Still they fingers are flexible enough to manipulate objects

Thanks for posting this sketch. I was feeling a bit insecure about some of the design ideas for my paws. I am thinking about making a journal post on soe concepts and ideas I have about my dragon self.

You know what this reminds me of, oddly enough? The Bloodcarver's paw-hands from Skin Deep.

That guy's paw was flat and with longer fingers > >

Still, it reminded me of his paws nonetheless. XD

How weird looking...

Not really. If you were to shave the fur off a cat's paw it would look similar to this

Well the bottom left is the one that looks weird to me. Not that weird is bad... I just don't know what to think of it, so I'm at a loss.

I've never seen a cat with a shaven paw so I can't picture that as a reference at all. > >

Yeah, it looks weird to me too, but the lack of hair to cover the shape kind of helps *took dogs and cats as a major reference*

Trust me, it's creepy

I think it's the padding under the pinky. Like it sticks out more or something, but maybe that helps to keep the paw even when walking. There are plenty of animals in the real world that have bizarre paws. I think hamsters are cute and have cute paws, but dang do the pads look weird. XDDD

Oh I'm sure they are. lol.

Considering the hand is more of a plantigrade than digitigrade (to relieve stress on the fingers) that area does need some padding

Lol, yeah XD

Dragon is a reptile-like, not a mammal-like

Birvan In reply to Gabrol [2009-11-19 08:12:17 +0000 UTC]

That's not entirely true. There are plenty of dragons who have mammalian or avian features, but that doesn't make them any less dragon like than the "classical" reptilian ones
