SHD-2G Shadow Hawk

with my left arm still outta action, been revisiting rough sketches from my physical sketchpads.

This one actually started as a NuSeen Shadow Hawk (aka the GOAC version) that I doodled 2-3 yrs ago. Because of my recent Fang of the Sun Dougram kick, I kinda rolled it back to the Dougram/Unseen version. The original also was of my personal custom, which drops the LRM5 to upgrade the head mounted SRM2 to a SRM4, and to add a second Medium Laser on the left vambrace. Instead I decided to update it to the "final" JAGD Type Dougram form, which means keeping the LRM, not adding a laser, etc.

The SHD-2G is a custom refit offered by Gill's MechTech on Galatea. Located in the Spaceport, Gill offers work bays, secondhand parts, etc to the various Mercs on planet. He also offers a refit on the Shadow Hawk, a mech he specializes in repairing.

A simple swap, it involves replacing the Armstrong J11 Autocannon with a Donal PPC, and a pair of leg mounted heat sinks. That's it. While adding a small amount of heat debt to the usually ice cold Shadow Hawk, it significantly improves the short and medium range punch, while reducing ammo reliance. Both things being prized by most Merc Commands. Some have compared it to the 2K model the DCMS favor, but Gill favors maintaining the sort range firepower in placing of grossly oversinking the machine, as the 2K does.

The conversion is relatively inexpensive, and can be done in under 48 hours, with adjustments tot he targeting software, range testing, etc. Gill offers a 60,000 c-bill discount if allowed to keep the autocannon. While not near as numerous as the 2K or 2D House variants, Gill has cranked out 3-4 dozen said conversions in the 5 yrs he's been offering it, and it is generally well regarded among his customers, as is his work, in general.
