I do have a livestream but I haven't used it in forever =v=; I actually don't have a scanner I just take pictures with my phone lol
Before I had photoshop I was useing free programs like gimp and SAI to edit my pics and stuff

Well if you use levels in photoshop it works waaaaayyy better...usually I just increase the contract and reduce saturation, luminescence and depth.

CS5.5 ~ It pretty much does everything. Photo editing, digital painting, animation, vectoring....
I suggest downloading brush packs if you're planning on coloring on it though cause the default ones aren't that great =v=

Depends what I'm trying to do. I feel more comfortable working on SAI, but there is not a lot of options for me if I want to do transparency or really need color or brush effects. I really like SAI's brush I think it's a lot easier to use

That also depends on what I'm doing haha.
For lineart I usually use Pen at 100 hard <-> soft and Max density 19 with 4 quality at about 5 size. I think that's standard idk.
If I want to color 'soft' I almost always blend with marker, then add closely related hues with the brush tool. It's pretty boring settings I think they're also standard; I don't ever feel like adjusting them properly like I probably should
