I kind of like the contrast...it gives the image "punch" and a sense of drama

Thanks Rich. Yes, I always printed my negs with a large amount of contrast because I too liked the 'punch'. I think in future though, if I print my own negs and scan them, I might use less contrast so that I can selectively adjust the contrast where I feel it's needed, rather than across the whole image. I think I might just start scanning the the negs directly though, seems to make more sense.

Yes middle ground is the best place to start. Leaves many more options for expression
