Time, wish of the Sacrifice. || 30inch tall x something wide || watercolourThis is a new cover for ASPS Part 2 [link] and is the 4th addition to my series of paintings dedicated to high vocabulary words that start with s. Although sacrifice isn't really a high vocab word ... but you know it COULD be. The other three are Saternine, Sanguine, and Sanctify. I drew this idea in June, redrew in July, partially colored in photoshop in August, lost my file in August, transferred drawing to watercolour paper in September, painted in October, and am finally done after scanning it NINE TIMES. AT 400 DPI. (clap please) Note - if you hadn't figured it out yet, I title my serious deviations l i k e t h i s.
I might post another deviation later of detail shots.

I love it. The sombre colours, the umbrellas, the clock, the hair...everything. This painting is just perfect. I love the atmosphere and the mood that it has. Once again, I really, really love the black umbrellas. They look so...symbolic...lying there. As does the clock. There's nothing that I can think of to critique...

Cool background, though the figure looks a big flat for such textural depth. Might look at Daniel Merriam, if you want to see more watercolorsts who work backgrounds sort of like yours. ; )
