Description Okay so happy new year? Yay I went for a bus trip around Ireland. And soon I'm going back home to the wonderful WINTERY SNOWY WONDERLAND called Finland! Although Ireland rocks as well but I'm kinda homesick now. But anyway, I feel like rambling so I'll give you a short version of whatever I'm going to say first:

It's fanart of Toothiana the Tooth Fairy from William Joyce's Guardians of Childhood -series. It's her bookverse design so don't be confused, movie-goers. I liked her design in the movie but I like this even more. It's more... formidable while still being very elegant. Plus I like the fact that it's kind of unclear what part of her is clothes and what part is just feathers. My theory by the way is that she's naked except for those shoes. Drawn with colour pencils (and boy, I am really sucky with those on white paper it seems). And I can't draw feathers to save my life. And I think she should hold the swords the other way round (as in the shorter one hould be in her right hand instead of left) but whatever.

Okay then for some more rambling. So I saw Rise of the Guardians in December and I liked it. It had probelms, yeah, but it looked really nice, the characters were likeable and I really, really liked the concept of making folk mascots badass. The concept was the reason I went to see it, actually. That and I saw Guillermo del Toro's name on the trailer. Yeah! Oh, and there were some funny jokes and also some nicely heartfelt moments in the film. Although would it have killed the filmmakers to give the villain a little more backstory? He has a perfectly good backstory in the books that would have made sense in the film too! Also, the film made me even more homesick because SNOW! And also I think there were many moments when there were frozen lakes/ponds in sight and I just kept remembering this awful beware of thin ice -PSA that haunted every Finnish kid of my generation which is probably not a good thing I mean GAH SHUT UP TV-BIRD YOUR SCREECHING IS LIKE HELL! AND YOU TOO BEAR DON'T STARE AT ME LIKE THAT! AAAAAAGH!

So my point is that Finland makes creepy PSAs? And also: VAROKAA HEIKKOA JÄÄTÄ! MURRRRRRR!

So after I saw the film I was interested enough to find the books it was a loose adaptation from. And now I'm totally hooked to the books and GAH IT'S SO LONG BEFORE THE NEXT BOOK IS RELEASED! It's in my opinion children's fantasy done right. It's VERY imaginative, with likeable (and smart!) characters and an interesting (and smart!) villain. And while it is mostly idealistic (and yes, that is sometimes VERY grating for a cynical person like me) it also talks about a lot darker stuff. I mean hell, Toothiana's backstory included (SPOILERS) prejudice, discrimination, slavery, an angry mob, lynching, and indirect genocide (SPOILERS OVER?) I think stories for kids should have some dark themes but still stay on the idealistic side and that's what the series does. And the illustrations are very nice too (soft pencils omnomnom!)

I drew this because I was bored and just grabbed the book from my shelf and figured man, it would be nice to draw the Tooth Fairy because her design is really cool. She's not my favourite character, though. My favourite is Bunnymund because he's so bizarre and HE'S A TIME-TRAVELLING EPIC WARRIOR BUNNY! Plus he loves chocolate and dislikes humans, kinda like me. He was cool in the film too. Even though he wasn't as weird there but he was voiced by Hugh Jackman so that's neat too, right?

Well, before I start sounding too crazy (too late?) I will shut up and continue wasting my time and not writing my blog like I was supposed to.

Bye!

Se on cool! Tuollaiset kaulaa myöten nousevat asiat, tässä tapauksessa värikkäät höyhenet, on jänniä asioita hahmodesignissa. Ja tuossa asennossa on kivaa liikettä, ja nuo siivet näyttää ihan uskottavilta. Vois muuten näyttää oikein hienolta mustalla paperilla.

Nyt tekisi mieli piirtää jotain Pet Shop of Horrorseista koska Count D (mukavan transhenkinen henkilö joka rakastaa eläimiä, kind of ei ihan ole ihminen mutta on (?) rakastaa suklaata ja vihaa ihmiskuntaa, he saved my life in my teenage years).

Suklaa on hyvää, ihmiskunta pahaa. Ihmiset ei edes maistu hyvältä! Tosin on olemassa myös syntisen pahaa suklaata. Niin kuin Bounty. Oho uskottavat siivet? Kiitos. Yleensä oon surkea siipien piirtäjä ja olin onnekas että herra Joyce päätti piirtää Toothianan siivet sen ainoan siipimallin mukaan jonka mie osaan jopa melkein piirtää. Heh.
