It's a fine camera, a lot of noise but it adds to the composition of whatever I'm trying to capture regardless

Predominantly digital for the past two years until around last month, now I shoot on film too. I'm studying photography at my local college, and the course revolves around that latter format.

color or black and white? i've only done black and white, i've been told color takes forever and is far more difficult

Our tutors said the same thing, it's black and white we work in. There is a digital aspect to the course though the deadline for that's not until March, I think...
Truth be told however, the colour in film photos has that nice saturation to it, especially with shots taken in clear blue skies.

Yeah...
I've also noticed that the black and white film isn't entirely grey, it has tones of brown that give it a richness that isn't there where you just take colour photos and turn them black and white.
